    Hey guys,
I've followed all of the tutorials I could find for installing the game for steam, but am still not having any luck. I'm running x86 and installed into the Rome Total War Gold folder. I haven't installed Alexander. I pasted the " -show_err -mod:EB" into the set launch options field but am still getting the "can't find steam" error. I also tried the method outlined by kdub22 here (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=272823), although I couldn't do ROFLcopter's method because when I create a shortcut it gives me an internet shortcut with the target "steam://rungameid/4760" instead of a proper shortcut.

If anyone could let me know where I've gone wrong I would appreciate it!

The UBTrivialScript folder was installed into just ProgramFilex(x86). Was it supposed to go there?

    Welcome to the forum!
    Installing EB with steam
This one usually does the trick. At which point do you have problems? Please post here the exact location of your steam.exe

    Thanks for the welcome!

That's the one I followed! Step 5 is where I encountered problems. It says "A shortcut of EB has just been created on desktop", but no such shortcut was created. So it then says

"if you do not wish to alter the shortcut, there is an alternate way, go to your games menu in steam, right click on rome total war gold, click properties, then click on "Set launch options", then copy the following text :

    -show_err -mod:EB

Now you can launch EB with the regular exe in steam from the games menu."

This did not work. I still get the "could not find steam" error.

The location of the game is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rome Total War Gold

However my EBTrivialScript folder is in C:\Program Files (x86)\EBTrivialScript

Is that the correct location for it? I let it use the default location, figuring that if it was supposed to be in the Total War folder it would have just put itself there.

Trivial Script does not work with Steam. The shortcut is only created if you opt to not install Trivial Script (part of the 1.1 installer).

Create a new shortcut to steam.exe and edit the target line by adding -applaunch 4760 -show_err -nm -mod:EB giving you something like "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe" -applaunch 4760 -show_err -nm -mod:EB

    Try this option.

Hmm still getting the exact same "Failed to find Steam" error. Should I perhaps try uninstalling the whole thing and re-installing Rome and then the mods without TrivialScript?

Yes, disable the check-box during the installation of EB1.1 and then follow the guides.
I currently have both ways of starting EB with Steam available and running on my system, hard to say where your error comes from.
