Ok, you have conquered the selucid lands, with many provinces. They want what used to be theirs, back.
They had so many provinces at start that is why it costs so much.

yeah it does that alot the gauls had one province left and i was fighting a more important war in pontus they asked me to to give them tons of money and all their land back.... so i just exterminated them XD

Im not defending the AI obviously, but just saying that sometimes even woppers like that happen.

What is worst is that they think that you will agree, when you have the power to exterminate them in the next year. They should be begging to be a protocterate, not demanding all their land back.

Never bow down to their demands, never! But if you want try to completely alter their requests to suit you. For instance, as Rome I conquered many Carthaginian lands, and they came and asked for their crap back. But instead of just blowing them off, I altered their conditions to make it: Ceasefire, Give Rome 30,000 Denarii, and Give Rome Map Information and I gave them map information. They didnt accept at first, so I took my legion to Carthage itself, defeated 2 full stacks in one battle just outside Carthage, then marchewd on the undefended Carthage and sacked the city. I Exterminated the people, retrained my troops, trained a few others to travel with my Legion, then destoyed every building I possibly could. Then I asked them for the same conditions that I had offered them before, with the added bonus of giving THEM Carthage back, and they accepted. It was so fun watching them rebuild everything and waste all of their money. Haha!

One thing I also hate about AI, is that those alliance ain't worth a cent, further you come in the game. Always turning their back sooner than later..
