Default 40 Unit Armies in DarthMod for NTW

I'm curious how others are building 40 unit armies with the new DarthMod NTW mod.

My standard army for either ETW or NTW is:

    1 General
2 Regiments of Calvary (the heaviest I can get)
    2 batteries of heavy cannon
    2 batteries of heavy howitzers
    10 Regiments of Line Infantry
3 Regiments of Light Infantry (preferably riffles)

Though, I should note that to avoid ambushes, for the purpose of general scouting, and reinforcement in battle if needed, my divisions (I call them divisions) are accompanied by a calvary brigade of the following:

2 Regiments of Heavy to Medium calvary
    2 Regiments of Dragoons
    1 Regiments of Light Dragoons
1 battery of 6 lber Galloper Guns
    Assorted light Calvary if available.

With 40 units (in NTW only, obviously) I deiced to essentially double my standard division, but with a few changes.

    1 General
    2 Regiments of Heavy Calvary
    2 Regiments of Light calvary
    4 Batteries of heavy cannon
    2 Howitzer Batteries
    2 Batteries of Galloper Guns
    20 Line Infantry Regiments
    6 Regiments of Light Infantry
1 Regiment of Grenadiers (if available)

IMO you're running a little light on artillery. I've found that more big guns means more canister shot means more of my guys make it through to the next fight. Running with 10-14 batteries per corps means i kill fewer of the enemy per engagement (they break earlier, sometimes before my pinning force can get into position) but it keeps my men alive which keeps them moving faster without needing to wait for resupply.

But if you prefer the one big bloody mess of two lines firing into each other then you certainly have a winning force, just not one that I think is efficiently optimized.

I should also note that I prefer the lightest possible cavalry. My heavy guns do all the killing so the light cavalry is needed to clean up the runners.

Sorry to take so long to reply (I know you probably don't care).

That's interesting. It certainly has an advantage in NTW where you can't resupply and replenish in enemy territory. To counteract this problem I generally operate my divisions in 3s. One attacks, the second supports, and the third recuperates if possible, or supplies men if necessary.

It's not that I prefer a slugfest, as it were, I just have so little faith in calvary being able to break infantry squares. This is how my lineup came about with 20 units in ETW and NTW. I used to use more calvary, but found them unreliable. Also, It generally gives me more line infantry than the AI. With 20 units I line eight infantry regiments up on the line, with two regiments in reserve at either flank (generally, though terrain plays a factor). My reserve regiments have a three fold role: 1. to protect my cannon, which I put out on either flank, 2. the more traditional role of reserves along the line: plugging holes as they appear and joining in a flanking maneuver if possible, and 3. protecting against the enemy's flanking attacks and that of their calvary.

I am curious as to why you use light calvary? If your heavy guns do all the killing, why not use medium or heavy calvary? They are slower, and I presume you use the light calvary to chase down your routing enemy and or attack their general and artillery, but they're not all that slow. Besides, they give you some insurance in case you need them.

Admittedly, I've said that I have little faith in calvary, but if they catch a line infantry regiment out of square (and I've found the AI to not be very good at getting into square in time) they are lethal. Also, aside from attacking the enemy's artillery, I often use them in defense against the AIs calvary. though, in DMUC, the AI does effectively coordinate their calvary and infantry so that when the calvary attacks, their infantry isn't far behind, leaving my infantry in the unenviable position of taking volley fire while in square because the enemy calvary is too close. I also use my calvary to buy time. If a portion of my line is under threat or has already collapsed I can rush in my calvary to hold the line long enough for my reserve infantry to plug the hole.

Still, I suppose light calvary would do just as well in the above scenarios.

I think I'll give your layout of 10-14 batteries of artillery a try and see what happens.

Hey there, I completely understand this is not the correct area to make such a comment but trying to get an answer from the mod area is bloody impossible. Is it possible for a modder to transfer the 40 unit armies from the campaign to the custom battles?
