Default Poita battle #4 virtually impossible!

He he i say virtually impossible but after about 10 attempts i did it. I'll post the screenies in a few days. I have to go away for the weekend and don't have time to upload them etc. Hmmm i also saved the replay. In my year or so of playing RTW i haven't messed much with replays. I watched it for the glory and it's strange but it only vaguely followed the actual battle. Not only that but in the replay i got my ayass handed to me by the Greeks when in fact i beat them . . what's all that about?
Anyway here is the battle set up. This one is truly a very very hard job.

    Setting: Very hard.
    Season: Winter.
    Time: Morning.
    Weather: Snow fall.
Map: illyum Valley (sorry for the miss spelling).
Money: as much as you need.
    Unit size: Large.
    Player: British on 'defensive'.

    Britanisa v Greeks.
All units set to 3 bronze upgrades on everything (as max in mp games).

    Britania (player)

    1 Warlord chariot.
    2 Archer light chariots.
6 Chosen warrior (the hardest of the Brits).
    6 Head hurlers.

    Greeks.

    1 General cav.
    4 Heavy cav.
    10 Hoplite pike men.
    2 Rhodian slingers.
2 Greek archers (the ones in cream colourd uniforms.)
    1 Skirmishers (the hard ones.)

There you have it. On the face of it it looks impossible maybe and it almost was. Let's see what you manage to do with this one. I'll be home on Sunday night and post my screenies.

Sorry the cursor is blocking the Greeks army size. You can calcuate it from the other stats though.

    Hi,

I've been playing rtw for quit a while now, came upon this thread and decided to measure my skills.
Somehow (Lord only knows), I managed to massacre the Greek army. Got it right from the first time, playing the settings as you described them.

Results (I only just registered and I do not seem to be able to upload screenshots)
    Brittons (deployed, kills, remaining)
    1075 - 1354 - 827
    Greek
    1441 - 285 - 0

I put my swordsmen on a hill. Along the path to them, I put the headhurlers, hidden in the forest. 1 unit of swordsmen in support. Chariots standby to lure their cavalry.

The Greek marched towards my swordsmen, I lured away two cavalry units. They did some damage to my chariots but ran off eventually. The other cavalry took on my headhurlers but they fought them off. Their general followed a unit of headhurlers straight to my hidden unit of swordsmen. They sent him off running. Took out almost all of the Greek ranged units (they just rushed in, hand to hand) with my headhurlers, using their speed to avoid contact with falanxes. Had some trouble with the slingers. Thought my general could handle them, but they scared him away. Luckily he came to his senses after a good while of running. The falanxes (spread out by this time) were easy meat. Some of them had reached my swordsmen, but I had the time and the space to 'anvill' them. The others were still in the woods, sitting ducks.

Thanks for the challenge, I enjoyed it, but I wonder, did I miss something?

PS: I saved the replay. Got some screens too, but how to upload?

Sounds like you did a great job. I'll give this a go when my exams are done (im on an RTW ban atm)

And as for the uploading of screenshots it couldn't be easier.

Make sure your images are jpegs and upload them to an account you will need to open here: http://photobucket.com/

When you have uploaded your jpegs here there is a link under each pic which you just paste in your post.

Do you mean battle setup file? --- You can't download it unless someone uploads the battle config file. If you wish to play it you wll have to set up a custom battle exactly as poita described i'm afraid.

Or the replay?? --- If so i'm sure someone could email theres to you.

Come on someone other than Mesamedasu (who in truth i believe can't have played it on 'Very hard' if it suceeded on his first attempt) must have tried it.
Let's hear how well you did and if you believe that it really is virtually imposible.

I did play on very hard (in truth). The jpegs and replay file went missing in some messy pc-cleaning, but I faced the Greeks once more, just to get some new ones. I Massacred them again, using the same tactics, although suffering more losses than the first time. Could be the AI-difference between rtw 1.0 and 1.5

OK Mesamedasu. I didnt mean to doubt you, just wanted to be sure. Great job.
I'd love to see the replay if you have it. mine was weird and didnt show the battle as it actually went.
