I played Europa Barbarorum and Roma Surrectum 2 to death, henceforth i want to try another mod which people think is very good. Can someone take their time to explain features of the mod ?
Thank you in advance![]()

The biggest battles of any mod out there! I only wish I could put as many men on the field (without lagg and still great looking) in RNJ 2.0. Not only the biggest but also the longest, which gives time for you to implement some tactical manovers. It also the only mod out there that uses a superpower fix that prevents any faction getting too big, and ensures you get to fight ALL the factions.
The only downside is no diplomatic agreements are possible, you are at war with everyone, and you have to use "house rules" to prevent over exploiting the games limits, IE only recruiting one named legion per army, but its this that makes SPQR.
If you want time to develop your empire how you like, and only the occasional battle this is NOT the mod for you, if you want BATTLE AFTER BATTLE on every turn, and an AI that puts up a challenge SPQR is for you.
Yes, do it.
I'm loving it SO much. It makes the battles much, much more intense. It also changes the campaign map/story and you get to play as any faction right from the get-go, without having to beat the game once.
Yeah can someone summarize the mod please? I've tried installing RS2 multiple times but no dice so I'm trying this now.
I've looked over the massive changelog of course but I'm not sure what to make of it.
this is kinda a hard question to answer. Or at least to know how to word.
SPQR is designed to give the game a challenge, and actual warfare feel. Much more than vanilla does. It has some of the most realistic and hardest battles in any mod. Partly due to some careful balancing and partly due to a reworking of the AI. Because of this it means to play the game you really need to play as rome. (hence the name)
It really is hard to answer. All i can say is just give it a go, and feel free to ask for help if the game seems insanely hard (its not, just takes a little getting used to)
