what's the difference between:
settlement_taken
settlement_occupied
&
settlement_exterminated
settlement_razed
settlement_destroyed
???
- Settlement_taken is when a council mission ends as unresolved when a certain other faction takes the settlement before you.
- Settlement_occupy is when you take the settlement with your general without sacking or exterminating the city.
- Settlement_exterminated is when you kill the local populace and a black smoke pops out of the settlement lol.
- Settlement_razed means sack in which a few buildings are damaged and you receive money etc from sacking\looting, 2nd option when you conquer a settlement.
- Lastly settlement_destroyed is no valid event afaik.
but the event_strings says that:
taken_________This is a grim day for our kingdom and people. The enemy now raises their flag above a settlement that was yours when the sun set last, a truly terrifying indication of vulnerability that will no doubt inspire more incursions into your lands.
uccupied______My lord, your settlement has been taken! The enemy has at least shown respect to the common people, and chosen to simply replace the ruling establishment rather than pillage the place. That is scant consolation for you now however - the council calls for you to reclaim it!
sacked________Your settlement has been taken! The enemy general has set his men loose to pillage the place as they see fit, which means death and worse fates for some of your former people. By right of conquest, they now bow to a new leader... your foe!
exterminated___My lord, the enemy army has put your people to the sword! After finishing the last of the defending garrison, the enemy's soldiers showed no mercy to our people before executing them in great numbers. It is said our people now tremble at the mention of the conquering general's name...
destroyed_____Tidings of a nature most grim have reached your court - Enemy forces have chosen to utterly raze your settlement, butchering your people without mercy as they tear every last beam and brick asunder.
razed_________DO NOT TRANSLATE - NO HORDE CAPABLE FACTIONS ARE PLAYABLE
so the "razed" and the "taken" cannot be that.....
I suppose that destroying a settlement was a feature CA wanted to implement, but they abandoned the idea, like many other things. There are also unused textures and indications for planned sea battles.
The razed tag contains the text that shows up, if you sack a settlement as a horde, afaik. But as you can't play a horde faction in vanilla, this text is superfluous.
if i may add two other doubts/questions
what are the
settlement_surrenders_enemy and
settlement_surrenders_own
???
i have tried to exchange settlements through diplomacy but it wasn't that...can someone confirm if it has to do with settlements "surrending" when made to starve through loooong sieges ?
and still, how could your own settlement surrender ?
you took the question out of my mouth...
settlement_surrenders_own - Prepare an execution order at once! The governor of this settlement has lost his nerve and surrendered it unto the enemy. Regardless of the peril that faced this place, their lack of defiance in the face of danger is all but an act of betrayal.
settlement_surrenders_enemy - Our patience and relentless pressure has paid off noble Emperor! The people of this settlement finally realised that there was no escape from their plight other than death, and have surrendered unconditionally to your rule.
and there is also: settlement_surrender - Grave news my lord, the people of this settlement have abandoned their pledge to you, surrendering to the enemy forces. Honour demands retribution, as does vengeance!
and i tried yesterday sieging a rebel settlement with 6 full stacks against 10-12 rebel units... and waited from 7 months in order for the settlement to surrender.... the rebels didn't sally forth... and after that the settlement became mine... but no other event fired... there was only the scroll with the 3 options (occupy, sack, exterminate)
and about settlement razed, this is what i found in event_images:
Code:settlement_razed icon disaster heading_items 3 format { title center verdana black string center verdana_med black title_image center spacer 8 bodystring left verdana_sml black left spacer 8 condition ;; was anyone hurt { true { condition ;; If any settlements are affected { true { string left verdana_sml black characters_affected list 1 verdana_sml black } } condition ;; If any characters are affected { true { string left verdana_sml black buildings_affected list 1 verdana_sml black } } spacer 8 group left 4 { string left verdana_sml black your_citizens_killed integer left verdana_sml black } group left 4 { string left verdana_sml black your_soldiers_killed integer left verdana_sml black } } } }
i don't think that's that relevant...(even though "razed" means burnt and destroyed to the ground, which certainly doesn't exist in med2TW)
if i remember correctly "settlement_revolt" too, is assigned to the disaster mini "falling" icon.. (you know, the one with the volcano)
so i guess that's mostly about the gravity of the situation..
Well i looked into this and it looks like taken\raze\destroy are not used in M2TW, probably RTW leftovers. Only way to test this is edit the text entry for them with a custom message like say "Settlement_taken tag works, you n00b!". I don't have time to look into this via gameplay otherwise i would've.![]()
I've never seen a m2tw settlement razed.
Raze and surrender are leftovers from Rome, I dont know if they could be modded in or not. Some leftovers can, such as shadow_faction, but it's usually a pretty involved process.
