Default Not able to play TATW

Hi! After being observing in this forum without registering since the releasing of TATW 1.5 (I think) i decided to make an account. The reason is that I'm not able to play 3.0 anymore. First, I installed and everything worked correctly, I played some campaigns and all worked perfectly. One day, I decided to install Baron Samedi's compilation, and after it, every time I started a campaign i had a CTD. I re-installed TATW without Baron's compilation, but when I start a FPoE campaign, i can't recruit any eriador militia unit, and all the game's music has disappeared. The other campaigns work, at least the first 10 turns, but without music too.
I re-downloaded the game, in prevention of a possible corrupted download, but the problem continues. I renamed the folder to "crusades" and all the music worked perfectly, but when starting a new campaign it goes back to the main menu.

Please, help me cause I don't want to stop playing this great mod.

PS:I know this possibly doesn't go here, but I'm not sure where to put it, and it's urgent.
PPS: I'm sorry for possible mistakes, I'm not english

Welcome to the forums! I cant really help with your problems, but this thread is slightly misplaced. It sohuld rather be in the bugs area. You use steam? The music thing is a common problem for steam users I believe.

BTW, there was no TATW 1.5
Under the patronage of Finlander. Once patron to someone, no longer.
    Content's well good, innit.

When you installed Baron Samedi's compilation it may have put files directly into your Medieval II folder, and that may be causing the problem.

You clearly use Steam, as do I. Mods and sub mods sometimes require tinkering when using the Steam version as the paths to the mod are different, and things can sometimes end up going where they weren't meant to go... which can cause all sorts of problems.

You should check and see if you can play vanilla games of Medieval II without problems.

If all else fails I would suggest re-installing Medieval II. And then re-install TATW 3.1

I use steam and everything works perfectly, but I have had countless problems when installing the game or installing any mods.

Most likely your problem is due to an installation problem and you may have to go back to the very start by re-installing Medieval II which will be tedious of course.

    Anyway, good luck.

@Guurt, thanks for your suggestion, I'll probably do that. @Mhaedros. Sorry, i didn't knew where to put it. And if 1.5 didn't exist, what was the one where eriador looked a little weird? (IMO, obviously). 1.4 maybe?

1.4 was the last one one in serie 1. After that it was 2.0 and 2.1

    Hello,
I am so happy i found this post after countless hours of searching...I am not the only one having this bug.

I am having the same problem for the last 2 weeks now, and I AM NOT a steam user...
(everything started as weel after failing at installing Baron Samedis compilation).

Bug : Eriador faction not working, no sounds, AI factions not working properly, no video when approaching cities or other, weird music from LOTR movies and more...

I deleted 4 times everything that was related to TATW 3.1 (and other) and medieval 2 (+kingdoms) and I am still getting this stupid bug after re-installation and re-downloading everything...I dont know what to do and what to search for anymore.

I must have some kind of corrupt files that i cannot locate with microsoft search engine.

I really need help on this, please tell me what you did to solve this problem.

Hope someone reads this even after almost 2 months.

    thx a lot.

Well it's misplaced and I'm fairly sure the mods are going to move/delete it but I'll post what I know.

You have went to 'Program Files>SEGA>Medieval II Total War>Mods>' and deleted the 'Third_Age_3' folder right? Then tried reinstalling? Once it was reinstalled, did you try deleting the .event files from 'Third_Age_3>data>sounds'? Did you try deleting the 'map.RWM' file from 'Third_Age_3>data>worlds>maps>base'? Hope this helps

    Thanks Trailhog,
What I have done 4 times this past weeks was :

-Unistalling Patch, Part 1, Part 2.
-Deleting the extra files that the instashield didnt remove.
-Deleting all content that was downloaded (thought could have been corrupted files).
-Uninstalling Medieval II and Kingdoms completly
-Searching for Med II or TATW files with microsoft search engine (and deleting everything related to them).
    -Re-downloading Kingdom 1.5 Patch, TATW 3.0 Part 1 and 2, TATW 3.1 patch.
    -Re-installing Med II Kingdom.
    -Re- applying patches.
-Re- installing everything that was previously downloaded...

I'll try searching for the 2 files you mentionned and i'll try to do that once again...but you see i dont understand how i can still get this bug even tho i completly clear my computer. That's why i say somehow some files must have went somewhere unexpected in my computer.

Hope more ppl read this and give me their feedback.

    Thanks again!

Look for TATW files in C://users/user/AppData(hidden)\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods

    Hello Emperor of Hell,
Ive just done a quick search and indeed, I have found an old file of TATW files with savegames and such...Should I remove the whole SEGA file or just the TATW one ?

    Thanks btw

PS: I have tried what Trailhog suggested me to do and it didnt do anything, was getting the bugs again.

Begin with the TATW one only, if it doesn't work try the whole SEGA folder.
