Sudden freeze in battle

Hey guys, having a problem I've never had before.

I'm fighting a campaign battle as Rhun against two Dwarven armies (one larger force and a smaller number of reinforcements) just south of the "Riverrun" settlement. The freeze happens at the same moment every time - just as I start to engage the enemy.

There are some axethrowers present but I do not think they are to blame, since this is a freeze (albiet a terminal one) rather than a direct CTD and also because I fixed the axethrower bug only recently and have confirmed that it's fixed via some custom battles.

Any idea what the issue might be?

I will reload my game and withdraw from the fight (I wouldn't lose that much from doing so) to see if I can circumnavigate the problem, but I am now worried that it might now occur on all battles

I have this happen to me as well from time to time when there are multiple armies involved. The battle just freezes all of a sudden and there is nothing to do but to exit the game.

It has happened to me on other mods as well. Unfortunately, I do not know what causes it and don't really have any helpful suggestions to offer.

Sometimes reloading the battle helps and the crash does not occur. One time I turned off the music from the sound options and fought the battle and the crash did not occur again. But I don't know for sure if that actually did anything or not.

I can attest to this. The battle froze while I was battling two AI armies. And I think the freeze also happened as I was about to engage the enemy. My archers had been firing for some time so it might be something related to melee engagement. I was Gondor and the AI Mordor.

I am in Dol Guldur, surrounded by 5 or 6 enemy stacks (an invasion has been called). It occurs immediately or after some time depending on my battle tactic but mostly when AI reacts to my ranged attacks with a charge...

Yes, me too. My battle screen freezes when I am fighting huge amounts of armies. I just think its a computer limitation, too many things for my computer to think about, so it just gives up. Annoying, but I suspect, unavoidable.
