Napoleon Total War steam sale

Steam sale empire + napoleon total war for 7$ now, i want to buy both. But i keep hearing about both game have weak AI + lot's of bug when reading at Shogun2 forum. My question is :

Is both game worth playing?
Can the Ai give challenge? Is it on par with medieval2 AI or Shogun2 AI?
Any good mod for both game? For example my favorite mod in medieval 2 is Kingdom Grand Campaign Mod for better AI + bit more challenging game.
or should i skip both game and continue playing Shogun2?

Ofcourse it is worth it. They are still great games and you can get hundreds of hours from it if you like gunpowder like me. Now 100 hours for an measely 7 dollars is quite a 'bang for your buck', no?
