"We both lost the election as I can see now there are alliances behind the curtains if we are to succeed and help Rome prosper we must create such alliance. I know that we disagreed on some issues but I think we can work together. What do you think about it?"

"I am certain we can work together, Manius. You have not been around the Forum for a while, so I hope you are active in the Curia during debates. I am constantly outnumbered, even when I am only standing up for traditional roman values. I see you are applying for the open Quaestor office, I may take up the Praetorship again, we should have some kind of courts. Also, I am unsure how well the books have been kept, as there has not been a full time Quaestor since I last left the office a few years ago."

Quintus took another sip from his glass

"Is there any ideas you had besides trying to work together?"

"We must try and gather more Senators around us. Because the two of us are note enough to achieve our goals."

"Yes I know, there are not many options right now however."

He slips Manius a note.

Manius got up and threw a message in the fire then he returnd to his seat.

"Well, i would advise us to pick our battles strategically, be conservative with our coin, and lastly, pray to the gods for assistance."

Valerius refilled his glass. The wine was exceptional and he needed it.
