Upgrading Computer

Someone in this forum mentioned he upgraded his computer for under $500; installing a new mother board, new memory chips and a new graphics card. Unfortunately, I lost my notes on this.

Can someone give me an idea on what the best equipment to upgrade my computer with so I can play both NTW and ETW without hicups? Specifically, a reliable mother board, a good Nivdia graphics card (sorry, but ATI sucks), and anything I may be missing but would probably need?

What eyecandy expectations and monitor resolution?

Right now, I have an HPw1907, a 19". I thought I'd keep that.

The resolution goes up to 1440 x 900, or something like that.

My 19" was old enough the best it would do was 1280 x 1024.

Look for a Sandybridge i5 setup. 4gb ram is more than enough. A460/560 1gb card is enough for ETW/NTW. Think 2gb for Shogun2.

I think you're right about the lower resolution. I'll check out the Sandybridge.
