    Icon12 Population

Hello everyone, just wondering how to add population to Fornost (Now Fornost Erain) and Amon Sul. Its turn 87 just reached Arnor, kinda sad my best unit is Arnor Milita. Getting owned by Isengard!! I am playing on Baron Samidies mod complication with AUM on if that changes any thing.

open your console, then type in:

    add_population "your town name" 4000

4000 is the maximum here, you can use less as well.
But if you build farms early on and set low taxes population should enable a bit more tha militias in turn 87.

The other suggestion would be to move a good general into the city, but of course, generals rarely swing more than 0.5% now in 3.1, so it's tough. The hardest thing to do by far is get the dragonslayers of Ered Mithrin in Dain's halls, it's impossible to get it to even 5000! (think the number for castle upgrade is even higher now)

You need 7500. Took me around 250 turns.

Just select the settlement, go to the building browser and double-click the name.

For settlements that have more than one word you put quotation marks around them.
    Example: add_population "Fornost Erain" 4000

Also, for Amon Sul you can just rename the settlement. (replace the funny U with a normal U)

Dunno if my game is different somehow, but i can only add population to Amon Sûl if i put the ^ over the U. So in order for me to make it work i would write --> add_population "Amon Sûl" xxxx

Did you rename Amon Sûl to Amon Sul? You can rename settlements to make it easier to use with console commands.

This ^. But for anyone who have not re named their settlements use this handy website it should work a treat.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

It shows you the keyboard commands for the accents, the link isn't really intuitive.

Hello all how do you rename a settlement?
"The when Fingon heard afar the great trumpet of Turgon his brother, the shadow passed and his heart was uplifted, and he shouted aloud: "Utúlie'n aurë! Aiya Eldalië ar Atanatári, utúlie'n aurë! The day has come! Behold, people of the Eldar and Fathers of Men, the day has come!" And all those who heard his great voice echo in the hills answered crying: "Auta i lómë! The night is passing!"" If you want to use the console for Amon Sûl, you could do two things:
1: Rename Amon Sûl to anything without a space in it (like "Amon"), as the console doens't work with spaces. (add_population Amon) (add_population Amon Sul doesn't work!)
2: Use the name of the region instead of the name of the Settlement, so instead of "Minas Tirith", use "Anorien" (add_population Anorien)

    That should do the trick

The console does work with spaces, you just have to wrap quotation marks around the words.

    Examples:
    add_population "Minas Tirith" 4000
create_unit "Minas Tirith" "Gondor Infantry" 5 9 3 3 (creates 5 units of fully upgraded and experienced Gondor Infantry at Minas Tirith)

Qoutation marks only work for general names, not for settlement names.
so: character_reset "Herp Derp" works, but add_population "Herp City" does not. Try it

It does work with settlement names.

Minas Tirith with it's starting population; 4252.

Now that's freaky, I've really done that myself and it didn't work. It was in 2.1 though, so I suppose it got fixed for 3.0?

    Anyways, thanks for the clarifacation
