Well, I am a LOTR fan (just a fan, not like a fanatic), and I was just wondering what all you other LOTR fans' favorite kingdom is, between Rohan and Gondor, or if you are evil and like Mordor. Also, what is your favorite character from that kingdom, or is there anyone you would like to be?

Eh, I am bored, and seeing as I have some LORT music playing now I was inspired to create this thread. Just a crazy idea from a crazy person.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot mine! Me, I like Rohan, dont know why, just really do, maybe because I like cavalry a lot, and they basically are all cavalrymen.

Gondolin...oh wait LOTR. Umm, Lorien probably (although thats not a choice)

I have always had a thing for trees (in a non sexual way) and their entire country is inside a forest...so, I like em.

Funnlily enough I would never have assumed that you meant it in a sexual way.

    I like Gondolin.

I shall abstain from voting until it is added

Rohan, they always struck me as a more barbaric, yet civilized culture.

    Other - Haradrim and Easterlings.

Not once rising to true grandeur, but not at all being a pushover or ignored force in Middle Earth. The easterlings came to dwell upon Rhovannon and Harad gives gondor a great fight despite their disadvantages.

Though I prefer it that one or the other be depicted as royale and civilized or possessive of some civilization - either movie style with easterlings as Oriental and Haradrim as tribal, or apparently more to the book, with Easterlings being steppe or nomadic/barbarian (Not mongolian, but turkish is fine) and haradrim as a mixture of north africa, sub-sahran (Though limited extremely, as seemed the case from the book) and Middle eastern.

I'd go for ANYTHING related to dwarves (and Hobbits). They are by far the funniest/coolest/craziest people of Middle Earth.

Off those mentioned I say Rohan...
The thing that intrigues me about them is their similarity to "Dark Age" Britain and Scandinavia aswell as their way of fighting..
Of all the nations they seem to be the most "historically accurate" ones in when comparing equipment and names and so forth, if one should compare LOTR to history that is... Gamling is by far the coolest in the movies, while Grimbold is the "best" in the books...

But I like the dwarfs just as much because of their bravery and their determination, aswell as their pride in their history etc....They are an ancient and mysterical race, which is why I like Gimli best of all the LOTR characters...

edit: Hey! I forgot to include Boromir! He is probably the most realistic "character" of them all....I mean you dont know whether he is good or evil...I mean he does what he thinks is best for Gondor while at the same time risk "hurting" Frodo..He is the perfect image of the nature of man, good and evil depend on which side you are on...

I would have to say Gondor.Their architecture is massive and everything about them is well organized. I would have to say that Beregond from the books is my favourite gondorian character.

Probably Rohan for me. I love their Viking style culture and warriors. I'm also a big fan of the Elves for their craftmanship, elegance and wisdom and lets face it, their warriors are pretty damn sweet too.
