Startup Problems plz help!

Whenever I start my comp up it opens MSDOS with the heading C:\DOCUME~1\Dimitri\STARTM~1\Programs\POWERR~2.EXE sometimes it closes by itself but most of the time I have to close it and when I close it it tells me that it is not responding and I End Task.

Any help would be Appreciated

That sounds like some sort of spyware to me, i wouldnt have thought "POWERR~2.EXE" would be part of windows and all i found by typing it into google was references to people saying get rid of it..

You should download and run some anti spyware programs if you dont already - I suggest:

Adaware

and

Sybot S&D


both are very good at spotting spyware and removing it. Also do you have a virus scanner installed and up to date? If not try AVG or Avast, both are free.


If neither of these make any difference, youll want to disable that exe running on startup...

To disable programs from running on startup, go to Start -> Run -> Type in "msconfig"

Then go to the tab all the way to the right (called "startup"), find and uncheck "POWERR~2.EXE" or any other programs you don't want starting up.
