    Default New Ideas for DM 8.0 Post Here

    Having many different add-ons, giving the player a new expericane

    E.g.

    Longer Build Times for All Buildings
    Longer Build Times for All Units
    New Maps like MM3
    No Walls for Rebel Cities for Faster AI Expanding
    Different Animaitions
    More Units
    Small Maps like just italy,spain,middle east

    Lot more to come, Post here for ideas you want to be included in DM 8.0

    What do you think???

    ATM I will be doing this alone as extra thing for DM 8.0, Darth is not involved ATM

    new units are allways good...a gothic spearman without the vanilla purple and a nice unitcard would be also fine (this is for germania)

    longer buildtime for buildings is a very good idea that i share, maybe even higher cost for buildings.

    longer unit buildtime sounds interesting and would make battles more decisive..but the question is if and how that would influence the ai behaviour and the difficulty

    new maps sounds very good, i just wonder how much work that is because i never looked into how a map is made.
    small maps that are focused on certain regions would be interesting. like a map of italia and germania and only little parts of gaul and dacia as a roman germania campaign. or a map for a campaign just between rome and gaul..or germania and gaul and dacia, etc.

    Little maps would be fun, let's say the Peloponesus and Macedonia, or a map of Italy, similar to the prologue. And new units would be fun

    ya little maps but with more towns to compensate for it, many small towns and a low population groth and small bonuses on populations growth and expensive mercenaries so that the population will be the bottleneck for raising armies (this will make battles decisive) towns mainly as income and not as major recruiting bases.
    every barbarian town on these small maps can be famous for one specific unit which can be raised there..and some kind of higher peasants/militia as a general unit that can be raised everywhere. just imagin the strategic value."oh damn i lost the town with the famous horsemen, now i cant build cavalary anymore..i have to retake it!"
    the towns you possess will enable or disable you to build balanced armies. when you have :wub:s of money the low population and unit selection bottleneck will still keep up a challange..taking slaves will be an important ressource and destroying a village nothing that you want to do all the time.
    these are all things that might make a small local map interesting..
    the map would still be "big" you could acually cut out italia and gaul or germania for example and just add a few more towns. and limit the factions to 5 or so.

    i would offer help for including units and buildings for those mini mods because i got really quick in that

    I Say keep the vanilla map..... its awesome....

    Increase Build Time...... cause i hate everything finishing so quickly. And that you have to spend your money much more wisely. Increased Mercenary costs, and increased building costs. And one Major thing, Decrease Population Growth. PLEASE. Cause some cities, in like say, 15 years, are WAY TO HUGE. e.g. Carthage. Anyways, please take those thoughts into consideration..... I really enjoy this mod and i play it everyday. I would really love to see those ideas implemented.

    Some one created a Warcry_Mod for SPQR mod. It removes the old barberian battlehorns, and adds lots of new sounds( mostly taken from famous films, such as Gladiator). Im sure that it can be implemented also in your mod.

    acually a good idea. but i would recommend to edit it before its but into DM.
    many of the sounds in the warcrymod are awesome but a few i dont like..because they get repetetive.
    eg

    "i hope you leave enough room for my fist because it ram it into your stomach and break your godam spine, ya"
    its really cool but if you hear it 5 times in a row it sounds dumb.

    basically if we would take out all the sounds with movie music and with long sentences and leave some horns an all the warcry/grunts it would be awesome

    I would argue against higher unit recruitment times, in fact, I think they should be reduced. In reality as long as a city had the manpower and monetary resources to raise an army, a large army could be assembled rather quickly(although not with the experience or quality of one which took more time) I believe that the later recruitment buildings should lower the build time. I think that it is absurd that a very large city can only raise 1 unit per turn -- the same as a small town!!

    Smaller number of provinces.
    Higher unit upkeep.

    I am playing on 3x unit cost and 2 times unit upkeep. At this settings:
    1) Losing a battle really hurts.
    2) Fewer but significant battles
    3) It takes much longer to recouperate after battle because of shortage of cash...

    By the way AI does not have any problems with these settings!

    Sorry if this has been said.

    Make the skins for BI (don't know if they're in regular) an optional install. I like the old skins more than the new ones.

    Or if anyone knows how to not install them.

    i have two wish here,and they are
    1.new campaign map
    2.remake economic and naval system, like what Metropolis&NavalMod has done
    for i like some new campaign maps, the vanilla is boring for me now.
    and also longer building time,higher recuiment and upkeep cost can make game more chanllenge and more decisive, for you should choose your strategy more carefully.

    I would like to see the following ideas looked at, some of which have been mentioned above.

    1. Extend the building length time and cost.
    2. Add to the different rebels that pop up in the descr_rebel txt file, by adding archers, cavalry etc to all provinces. Perhaps readding gladiators to the Italian peninsular as well.
    3. Rebel skins please
    4. Keep the Vanilla Map, but perhaps add a few additional towns such as Alaria, Vindelicorum. Please do not extend the map to the East or Africa as every other mod does!
    5. Complete rework of resources and positioning. If you like I can show you what I have done, and what ideas I have which really add to make dynamic trading!
    6. Additional mercenaries and increase their upkeep.
    7. Decrease mission lengths for senate, and narrow their attitude boundaries, to force the player to carry out their orders. Change the colour the Senate appears as to Black or Dark Purple on the Camp map.
    8. Please keep the 4 Roman factions.
    9. Add my descr_disasters txt file to your mod

    I have been away from the community for a long time and playing other games. One week ago I downloaded your work (not for the first time since your work began) and was extremely pleased and relieved to for the first time in a mod really fight tough Gauls on my Julii campaign.

    This mod is brilliant work once again. Keep up the good work.
