Default Troops getting killed by Friendly fire

My troops are killing each through friendly fire. In RTW this wasnt a problem. Is there a mod that will fix this in BI.

It's obvious there in line of fire try this way:

    -infantry

You either have not played the 1.0 version, or don't remember it : two missile throwing units friendly firing each other to oblivions because they were overlapping, that was so bloody clever...

I'm not sure what you are talking about - there was friendly fire in RTW. I also dont get why you would want to remove this feature. Doing so would take away from the realism of it. What will your troops be using, "anti-enemy" arrows with "friendly guard"?

Well i think that the 1.2 and above patch fixes frendly fire when units are over lapping, but if you mean that you fire archers into a melee, then that is hardcoded, plus it would be very innacurate if your arrows always hit the enemy...

thats why its sometimes better to place archers in front of your troops and pull back or if they go behind make sure they are on higher ground, but the amount of battles where ive had like 9 men lost which was was due to freindly and no one else died becasue of any other reason

Oh yes, I remember the original unpatched friendly fire, sometimes it was hilarious. I remember having entire melee-infantry units absoultely chewed to pieces by "friendly" archers standing behind them. You can still lose men like this sometimes, but not *nearly* like it used to be.

I generally dont have too much problem with friendly fire now, unless my missle troops are firing into an already engaged melee. I typically turn off the auto fire once melee has engaged, to prevent such friendly fire casualties.

Also, when using skirmisher/peltast type troops, I've had some luck with keeping them in reserve until the main lines are engaged, and then pulling them off to the side/rear flanks of the enemy army, and having them throw their javelins into them then. This can often have quite a devastating effect; just beware of enemy cavalry.
