    Default Ouch...Clinton-Bush comparison poll

Check this out. Clinton-Bush Comparison Poll Article

The times they are a changin':
Respondents favored Clinton by greater than 2-to-1 margins when asked who did a better job at handling the economy (63 percent Clinton, 26 percent Bush) and solving the problems of ordinary Americans (62 percent Clinton, 25 percent Bush).
So what happens if we go into recession? Right now appears to be the calm before the storm.

On foreign affairs, the margin was 56 percent to 32 percent in Clinton's favor
on taxes, it was 51 percent to 35 percent for Clinton
That's actually a surprise, since cutting people's taxes is such a blatant popularity grab. It seems to indicate that folks are looking at the massive debt and are no longer convinced that it was a wise economic move for the nation.

on handling natural disasters, it was 51 percent to 30 percent, also favoring Clinton
The only surprise here is that Bush mustered as high as 30 percent.

When asked which man was more honest as president, poll respondents were more evenly divided, with the numbers -- 46 percent Clinton to 41 percent Bush
Oh the delightful irony of that. All we heard for 8 years is what a liar Clinton was when he was president, followed by more of the same through Bush's two terms... Egads! What's this? Clinton is considered more honest than Bush!

Well, at least Dubya can look with pride to his image as the nation's protector...
The same was true for a question on handling national security: 46 percent said Clinton performed better; 42 percent picked Bush

What are you trying to prove...

Especially since only about 1,200 people voted. I wouldn't trust the opinions of 1,200 people to represent a nation of 300,000,000. Even if CNN claims that they come from all walks of life (which they don't)

You know, the same exact line was being bandied about some months ago when Bush's poll numbers were far higher but slipping. But that is interesting is that despite looking at long lists of polls of about 1,000 people each time, they have indeed captured the sentiment of the country, with surprisingly little variation from sources as diverse as FOX and CBS.

I presume that wouldn't have been said during Clintons Presidency. He was so much popular and did so much for America didn't he. Oh yes, how useful. I would rather the President have an approval rate of 0% and be defending the country than have a President with an approval rating of 100% not doing anything.

Bin Laden was right to attack us? No wonder the poll numbers are so low if this is honestly what people think.

I said Bush is making us new enemies. I said that Bin Laden attacked us because he is ****** off and Bush is ****ing more people off. My point should have been simple enough but you had to attempt to look into meaning behind words that were not there in order to attempt to strengthen your argument. Bush has done very little that is good for our nation. He is also ruining the economy by the way, I don't know if you realize that. He is attempting to do Reaganomics....which after 8-10 years collapses the economy. It gives a quick spike and then causes a major decline. Last time we were lucky enough to have the dotcom boost but I don't know if we'll be so lucky next time.

I wouldn't, because that means he is defending in the wrong way (kinda like what Bush is doing). And why do anything (which btw, saying Clinton didn't do anything is BS) when there is nothing needed to be fixed

Clinton left the country in a steady decline. That was something that needed to be fixed. To say clinton didn't do anything because there was nothing to do is completely absurd

    WTC death toll: 2752
Iraq death toll: 2444 (not including non-US deaths)

How exactly is Bush helping to defend the country? Soon his (yes, HIS.. his personal war) will have caused more US deaths than the terrorist attack that preceded it. Bush has spread his military dangerously thin. He is no longer able to react to an act of war from another country. He put Iran in a powerful position because of this. Why do you think the Iranian president is suddenly making so much noise?? On top of this he alienated both China and Russia and put us on the brink of a second cold war. China, who will surpass the US in economic strength within two to three decades, is not someone you want to mess with right now.

To think that Bush is making the world a safer place is ridiculous.. Unfortunately there's FOX news....

    Prediction:

Before long, someone will be in this thread saying that polls are "unreliable" and you can get whatever results you want from any given poll.

Without fail, if a poll goes against your beliefs, that's how people dismiss it...and I don't care what side of the fence they're on.

EDIT: LOL! Mudd already beat me to it. Sooooo predictable!

While I'm no Bush fan, the poll does seem unfair. People tend to look at the past with a fair amount of rose tint. I can imagine that 5-15 years down the road, another similiar poll will declare Bush the winner against the current president.

Well, like you said it depends on the poll. If I were to poll the right people then I am sure I could get the exact opposite. Both side can, although the Liberals tend to point towards these 'fair' polls a wee bit more.

And Clinton I remember doing absolutely nothing for America

I'm no fan of Bush, but Amen to that! At least Dubya has actually done something important during his entire presidency, unlike Clinton who waited until his last few weeks in office to do diddly squat!

Well Clinton had the luxury of having the country at a time when the best thing to do was nothing, which he did, and bush got stuck with the country on a decline(the economy was falling a year before he even came to office.
