Well id say the bigest problem here is these peoples return to the united states.
As they have been trained in the art of killing.
But as i assume the US army does in fact have standards.
Its quite possible that these men will be 'reformed',
and that might well be the purpose they were allowed into the US army.
That sounds like a bit of wishful thinking to believe the army reforms such people and even consciously accepts them because of that. If you're a gang member, the army won't change that, unless you yourself are looking for some new meaning in your life.Originally Posted by Bigfootedfred

The government knows of this and the FBI have been sent in to investigate.

I was just reacting to farnans post that very much reads like an official announcement that tells us to stop discussing this and stop worrying about it. After all, the government is investigating, so let's not talk about it anymore. Many things don't affect me in any way, yet I discuss them, just farnans post seemed very amusing to me, like he was some state official calming down the public.
He's allowed to hold his opinion, same as any of us. And you don't know what the FBI can/can't do.Originally Posted by Corporal_Hicks
anyway, I'm wondering if this a really big problem or not. I mean, what are the numbers of gangsters in the army. Big, small?

And just to let you know, Folk and Peoples Nation arent gangs, thier kinda like the AFC anf the NFC in American football. Crips are part of the Folks (who use pitchforks) and Bloods and Latin Kings are part of the Peoples Nation (who use canes, top hats and five pointed stars).
I've got friends in the Crips, Bloods, Latin Kings, Neta, etc. so I know this **** lol.

Let's hope not.
I've been thinking of joining the army, but not with this crap.
Occupational soldiers always devolve into this because while they're still in a warzone and therefore less inhibited, they have little to do outside of their humdrum patrols.
A diehard Russian nationlist/Stalinist in the US Army?
Anyway, is this really that big of a deal? I doubt a few urban gangs really wanna start a bunch of splinter groups thousands of miles away from their locality.

I'm just worried about a gang war starting up between the factions back home! I just get the bad feeling that their representatives in th Army will duke it out as well, leading to useless death and destruction in Iraq.
Of course I intend to do what most soldiers do and stay out of politics.A diehard Russian nationlist/Stalinist in the US Army?
Wasn't Tony Montana or whatever his name is, in the Cuban Army? Look what he ended up doing! lol
Well this is pretty sad, and there is no real solution to the problem... but how do the soldier-gansters rationalize it? I mean, with their comrades from other gangs?

That's important for every nation's army, not only the american I might add. In germany e.g. there's been right wing groups calling their...uhm..."followers" to join the army to learn how to fight but since the army keeps a close eye on that, they are usually weeded out very quickly.
Yes, but the gangs are not very...public, and they are also street based gangs. I do believe that the Army does do a screening process for potential threats, but considering the times...I doubt it is very thorough.
