    besides AA...anything especially bad?

how bad are unit shaders/shadows/hi quality shadows?

I think there have been threads like this already. To answer your question, grass is often the biggest fps killer for me. That and obviously unit size

Just use auto detect, then disable AA (which is what I always do) then get rid of stuff like buildings and grass as well

edit: unless u have a supercomputer, then maybe just leave the AA on

shadows are the nemesis of my pc, specially high quality.

The shadows are shocking anyway. I would turn them off even if i had a beast of a computer. Some settings hurt the CPU more then the graphics card.

how can i completely turn them off? i dont want that black circle if the shadows are all off...

    what are shaders vs shadows?

Using a 7800, the only thing that hits it at all (disproportionately) is the building details. I drop those to low or medium. Something about buildings just chokes the video. Nothing else dramatically affects the fps for me. Of course more and more units does, but in the way you would expect...

Nah... on my beast of a computer the detailed shadows are crap, sure... but the low detail ones look better than no shadows, IMO. Anchors units to the ground.
