you wont get the full experience if you only play with Rome. The roman units are so overpowered it isnt even funny, so if you want a challenge play a different faction. Notably the Seleucids and Carthage have an awesome (in my view) selection of units, and also many other factions offer their own unique bonuses. Just experiment and above all have fun
Go with the Seleucids. They are a ton of fun and have a wide selection of units and the beginning part of the campaign is awesome.
The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be used until they try and take it away.Staff Officer of Corporal_Hicks in the Legion of Rahl

id like to say that using the seleucids is freaking hard...any tips for them? Its so damn spread out. You think i should set my capital to somewhere closer to more places, and not seleucia? Its kind of far away...
any tips, id appreciate it. ahhh
Breaking the Egyptians early on will make you. Ignoring them could potentially break you! Do, however, beware of the Parthians/Bactrians/Eastern Rebels(even though they are just mainly an annoyance).
I opt for greece, trying to expand is fun, early battles of nothing but phalanx is great.
I enjoyed playing as the seleucids the most. Macedon is pretty cool too. the speaches are not as elaborate as the Romans but that's about it. The one thing I love about RTR is how many awesome units there are.
