    Default Artifex Act

artifex -ficis m. As adj.: act. , [skilled, clever]; pass., [skillfully made]. As subst., [worker, craftsman, maker, creator, expert].

    Proposed by:Garbarsardar
    Drafted by:Garbarsardar
    Supported by: Archer, Asterix, Lusted

    Artifex Act

To qualify as Artifex, the nominee must meet the following Criteria:

    • Served the Total War Center or Total War Community with significant input to the total war boards in any capacity other than staff.

    • The nominee must be seconded by a Magistrate or Opifex before it can go to a vote. Vote shall be refused to any user who fails the criteria for citizenship with regard to warnings and post count.

Qualifying nominees shall be voted upon in the Curia for a period of one week, and a majority will be sufficient to decorate a user as an Artifex. A user who passes the vote shall be awarded the rank of 'Artifex' . A nominee who fails to achieve a majority is eligible to be nominated again after a three month period.
    Rationale for this proposal

1.The title does not give civitateship plivileges but it is a honorary award for membbers participating mainly in the total war boards who would not qualify for the Opifex title as an encouragment for their efforts.

2.People with contibuition to the moding and generally the TW boards can now be shown a token of recognition. Let us not forget that these people are one of the main reason for the appeal of our site.

3.The Opifex title awards civitateship, and the qualifications should not be lowered after the title has been awarded to our members.

    4. This rank depends on objective criteria like working on a "TW" game and showing results.

    5. It recognizes people who might not be the best debaters, or best with grammar, but art, craftmanship, experience.

    6. The Curial vote for the Award will make both modders and Civitates to be interssted more in eachother's endeavours...

Considering people like Nero666 and Goscinio (among MANY others) who barely post outside of the modding community but put a huge amount of effort into modding it sounds like a nice idea.

However i know of excellent historians who do superb modding work with their research yet do not qualify for civitateship as they do not post in the CC enough. This act also does'nt give them any credit for their contributions. Im wondering if this title could be given to historians as well as the other modders

also Do they get a badge?

    and good proposal

Yep, they get a badge, and any contributors to the TW boars qualify, yes. Artifex means also expert.

I like this idea, especially whever I see people (webbird comes to mind most readily) who have greatly enhanced the TW experience for me and many others I know with their work, yet they have little to show for it. It is a good idea and would give members yet another thing to strive for, hence making the site better overall in my opinion. Good idea

Wait a second, the bill doesnt say that it can't be given to civitates. Is that correct that a civitate can in fact recieve this award?

Sounds like a good idea, especially since most Patrons look for Civitates in the CC area. (I know it doesn't give civ. status, but it's a nice addition nonetheless) It's also a good way of telling the modding community that we're thankful for their hard efforts. Oh, and I have a final question, what does "Opifex" mean? I never got the chance to find out.

So, do the non-civ people who become Artifex recieve that rank or do they simply get the fancy badge. I for one say that they should recieve the badge and keep the name color the same as they currently are. Less confusion with the proper amount of respect

I will leave this to Lord Rahl and his wonderful badges, and yes probably the color should stay as you say to avoid too many colours on the board...

    4. This rank depends on objective criteria like working on a "TW" game and showing results.

Could we add something like outstanding and continuous contribution to the modding community, Thus allowing members who may not have released anything, but who are the front line in the mod workshop where most new members enter the site. as a bit of a catch all addition.

or should we see 4. as meaning posting screen shots previews ect.
Just clarifiying, all the political nuance makes me

On the badge, i won't presume to suggest, but i think removing the Laurel from the Opifex would look good, Doh! sorry.

I support this, it is a good idea that can get newer members more active and make this site better. I already have ideas for some people who would deserve such a badge.

I support this in full. Many modders deserve recognition and a place in the curia, but simply don't post a lot or enough to actually fulfill the criteria. Their skills lie in their work. Who's to say that doesn't deserve some recognition?

I agree as well, and I also think there should be a color for it...perhaps non-bolded orange...maybe green....black?

As you can probably guess i support,n there are many modders out there who contribute a lot ot the community, but who do not get the recognition they deserve, especially as mods are one of the main draws to the site.

So why should someone strive for Artifex and not Opifex? I dont see the need for another rank when theyre both essentialy the same. The Opifex reward is pretty clear cut and only for the finest contributions, why cheapen it with a half way there stage? Why not create another rank after this for anyone whos ever modded a text file in the game..?

Sorry but i wouldnt support this, i wouldnt like to see TWC turned into a 'everybody wins a medal' type place.

    EDIT:

i hate to say it since this argument was used against the Opifex rank so often, but really, anyone who deserves this title should just be nominated for Civitate instead. Thats supposed to be an honour

I think Spiff is right , there is no need to an intermediate level , unless u may want to add another rank like ...

Artifex = civitate + modding abilities = qualifies all modders of TWC

Optifex = patrician + exceptional modding abilities + exceptional contribution to modding community .... = qualifies only the best modders and contributors both on TWC and around the whole TW community....
