    Default Weak enemy units

    Why does the computer insist on endlessly training really weak units? For instance, I'll already be using units like Urban Cohorts and Armoured Elephants while the AI is still throwing weak ass "armies" of town militias and warbands at me. I wish the computer would use more elites.

    It also matters on what difficulty you are playing on too, and the mod will make a difference.

    I always play on H/VH or VH/VH.

    Maybe the Ai is being *gasp* smart for a change? Sending obviously weaker troops at a superior enemy has always been a strategy of generals. This tires down the enemy soldiers, so that the ellite units have an easier time about it!

    No, what it does is stunt the growth of their cities by drafting a ton of throwaway troops, drains money that could otherwise have been spent on upgrading their barracks and stables, and gives free valor points to the enemy elites that lay waste to them.

    Try EB then you'll see elites
    I dunno. EB is still a beta, isn't it?

    Most improve it so that the ai recruits more elite units, i know mine does and EB does(it is still a beta but a very complete one, hardly any bugs left).

    I am running into Gaul full stacks of mostly Chosen Swords and with Noble Cav and a few Forester Warbands thrown in for good measure. Meanwhile, in Egypt, I usually meet up with nice mixes of Desert Axemen backed by Pharaoh's Bowmen and Heavy Chariots; so maybe the A.I. stupidity is faction dependent?

    So, Lusted, your TE 4.0 ups the ante on faction military "toughness" ? I am looking forward to participating in the TE succession campaign. With all this good stuff I've read about TE, I am almost convinced to start my own long campaign in it. Not yet, though: I have a few vanilla fish to fry...

    I'm pretty sure it all depends upon the unit costs and upkeep costs. Because I messed with those a bunch and I was able to get any mod's AI to recruit what ever I wanted them to.

    EB = Europa Barbarorum, one of the biggest RTW mods out, aims first and formseost to improve the historical accuracy of RTW.
