[Support] Cursor not synced, can't skip starting cutscene

It's been a long time since I've played R:TW, And I've broken the disc somewhere along the way, So when I saw it on sale for £2.49, I decided I'd snag it, as that's pretty cheap. I open it up after spending about seven hours downloading it (Curse you, NI internet!). Next up, I load the game, and skip to the cutscene. I've seen it hundreds of times before, so I attempt to skip it, to no avail. Then, When the cutscene ends, The cursor's image is up in the top left, but my actual mouse cursor which I can control is in the middle

It's an old computer, and i'm getting a replacement soon, but Rome total war isn't that demanding, right?

One thing you may want to try is the 'no movie' switch with is -nm.

To see where you put the switches try this thread: here. The switch is added in the same way as the 'enable editor' or using the 'movie cam' which are shown at the start.

I'd also suggest having the -show_err switch there.

So it should be .....RomeTW.exe" -nm -show_err

Make sure you put a space between the switches.

Hey, I'm following the thread, but I'm using Steam, & I can't find the Activision file, Where do I find it with steam?

I found it. For future viewers to this thread it's here: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Rome Total War Gold\RomeTW.exe

but, It's an application, not a shortcut.

You didn't mention Steam in your post - just the fact that you downloaded it from somewhere.

I don't use Steam to run R:TW.

There are some notes in this thread (here) on how to run RSII using Steam. It's in the first post under the heading 'Running RSII On Steam'. In there it shows how to set up the switches.

If you didn't already find it what you do when using steam is go into your steam library and right click on RTW Gold, click properties and then click set start up options and enter the command line switches there.

Thanks for your continued help, but now everytime I launch Rome Total war it says "Rome: Total War encountered an unspecified error and will now exit"

EDIT: Even without the addition.
But my sound card has turned itself off, so restarting might help

It's a prebuilt PC.

It's a DELL USB mouse, it works for all other games.

You are the second one know of having a Dell USB mouse that conflicts with RTW. He finally just gave up on playing.

Well, the mouse is terrible anyway, Gives me an incentive to buy a new one! I'm heading to PC world some time this week to buy some components, I'll buy a mouse there too.
