Default Defying the laws of physics

Well not really but I do have a question about modding that is somewhat similar. Am I correct in assuming that the shields that some mounted units posses are attached to their hands and not their arms like infantry? So if I attached (or got some to attach) the shield to the hand rather than the arm bone the unit would hold the shield out rather than resting it on their shoulder whereupon their shoulder passes through their shield, right?

Most infantry and cavalry models have their shields attatched to the left hand, only a few infantry units have it attatched to the left lower arm. The clipping is dependant on whether the shield has been laid flat against the arm or not, the shield should really be out at an angle so it looks a bit like this _\ when looking at the model in max. This stops it clipping with the shoulder.
