Default Moussaoui Has High Opinion of US Legal System

After all his court room rants directed towards the jury I find this amusing...

    CNN

    Here is a teaser:
"I had thought I would be sentenced to death based on the emotions and anger toward me for the deaths on September 11. But after reviewing the jury verdict and reading how the jurors set aside their emotions and disgust for me and focused on the law and the evidence ... I now see that it is possible that I can receive a fair trial even with Americans as jurors."

On one hand its amusing because evidently he realized oh crap life in a tiny cell to rot doesnt sound like a good way to live but on the other hand it brings up the point that alot of people have argued you cant treat terrorism as a crimminal act but instead need to treat it as an act of war because the legal system can be manipulated by clowns like this. I assume this will be rejected quickly but you never know with legal system and more importantly it drains resources as now goverment has to deal with this.

I havent really been following this case closely, so forgive me if i'm incorrect, but wasnt Moussaoui charged with aiding the attacks of September 11th? The Jury found him not guilty of that crime, despite (i'm assuming) the prosecution throwing all the evidence they had against him.
How is this not a fair trial? The guy had not killed anyone, or committed any terrorist actions. In fact, from what i gather i think Al Qaida thought of him as a liability and an idiot.
If you Americans start disgarding your legal system on a whim, you will be another step down the road to Fascism.

You should read up on the case then before posting, no offense. He admitted his involvement in it in court, http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exer...A9D97E2435.htm. and plead guilty. There is no disgarding our legal system here he is however now trying to use the legal system claiming he 'didnt understand it' which is pure nonsense. Its moot anyway since his request has been rejected http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/n...ationworld-hed.

He did not speak... his lawyers did. And I find it somewhat heart warming that an enraged terorist has seen the benefits of an independent jury based judiciary...
He found it because he didnt get the death penatly and no dont doesnt look forward to 24/7 for the rest of his natural life being locked in a tiny cell in a supermax prison. This was no doubt more Moussaoui nonsense, to go from Bin Laden won, I won and I hope you all die to oh you guys are so fair in a matter of days.

I thought that this guy wasn't going to get the opportunity to speak publically again?

    No offence taken

Its a very complicated case, and i'm not sure any of us will really gain a full understanding of it (unless there happen to be some lawyers here?)
Anyway, a quick bit of research found that the defence were trying to prove that Moussaoui was a paranoid schitzophrenic, and that there was no actual evidence to prove his involvement in either the september 11th attacks or and other planned operation.
If he is mentally unstable (which, from reading some of his statements, seems quite likely) then the fact that he admitted anything is irrelevant. Dont forget, the guy is most likely looking for Martyrdom and infamy, and throughout the case he has done everything possible to get himself executed.
I still think the Jury reached the right decision (although, from what i gather, the only reason he was spared was because for a death sentance to be implemented, the jury has to be unanimous, so its not really a decision that they reached per se, more of a default ruling)
