    Default instant generals

Is making the general's unit recruitable as easy as adding their entry to the expor_descr_building? I'm sure if I did that I could recruit a General's bodyguard but would It also give me a new General? That would be great. I mean I have a limited supply of generals and I really hate throwing them into battle because they die at the stupidest most inconvienient times.
And one other thing. How do you upgrade to the late general? I played the Imperial campaign all the way to the end and had over a dozen cities with Imperial Palaces but I was never able to upgrade to the new armoured general. Or at least I upgraded them at various times for one reason or another (armor, weapons, experience, etc.,) and I wasn't sure if it was the armoured general upgrade but I never saw one in battle.

you must add them into the edu file to make them available in custom battle. In order to have them available in a campaign, however, you must enter them into the export_descr_buildings file under the buildings of your choosing.

Yes, if you do everything right you can make them create a general with the unit. Then I would say some more but Publius got that, but I dont know much more

Okay so adding them to edb will work, great. And it will give me a new general. Does that work like the "man of the hour" message where I can adopt a succesful captain? Doesn't really matter, so long as I can replace my precious, precious generals.

No - this means that you will be able to recruit a general's unit just like you would be able to say recruit hastati, swordsman, etc. But this is only the bodyguard which normally accompanies the general, not the actual general himself. As far as actually recruiting a general and not just his bodyguard, I would try to find someone that is familiar with the BI code, as this is one of the abilities in BI

No, you can get recruitable generals in 1.5, its as simple as making the bodyguard unit recrutiable in export_descr_buildings. When you recuit a unit of them you will get an instant general just like Bi but they will not be part of the family tree, but you can get the man of the hour event with them and adopt them into your family.
