This is a really short story that I wrote at my lunchtime. If you think its bad, then don't post; just stop reading (logical isn't it?). I made the original in just over half an hour. Anyway, here it goes:

The Foot Doctor, by DarkProphet

I have met many people in my business; most of them getting
corns and warts removed…
Many of them tell me their life stories, or what they are doing today.
Sometimes I hear about their plans for the future, or memorable events
of the past.
There was one man, who came in so bitter, and I viewed him with
particular dislike during the first half of the procedure. But in the end
I saw him in such a different light. It nearly blinded me.
His name was Richard Bayes. He was a businessman; he owned the
fifth largest clothing company in the world. When he first came in, he
answered my commonplace questions with some pride, and to some with
aggravation. He seemed to hold great pride over his accomplishments,
but was short tempered and had a look of anxiety. I thought it was
because he was awaiting a response to a big deal.
Several times, he grunted at me and swore when he felt some pain. It
was rather annoying, seeing as how he rejected the painkiller. He
hadn’t been for help with his bad feet for years, so this was to be
a long session. After a while I stopped talking.
Five minutes later he asked me questions about my life; how I felt,
if I was happy…
I don’t have a degree in psychology, but I could see that the man had
some troubles in his life, and wanted to get his mind off of his pains –
both physical and psychological.
I didn’t mind all too much, because he was quite rude, and didn’t seem
to notice the horrid wages of his east Asian workers. If he did, he
probably didn’t care.
He started to talk about his life; who was in his family, what they are
good at, and how he spends so much time at work. Apparently he
missed his wife’s birthday last year, didn’t tell his children that he
loved them, and had almost no life outside of the office.
He told me about his wife, how she was always unhappy, and the lack
of communication between them. He told me about his kids, their after
school activities, and how me missed their big games.
I started seeing past he rough exterior, and got to witness his inner
emotions come out. It was a waterfall. He started crying when I
finished the procedure; not because of pain, but due to his severe
anguish.
He started saying all sorts of things, such as how he wishes he was
there for his kids’ games, how he wishes he spent time with his wife,
and how he wants to leave his business to stop being responsible for
the poor wages of children working for him.
He knows that he is responsible for the pain of his wife and the
pessimism of his kids.
I talked to him about ways he could start changing his life, but he
would not agree to try. He said that he had done too much damage
that it was irreversible.
His kids didn’t love him at all; they were going to be old enough to
leave soon and never come back.
His wife is dead. She had been crying while driving on a highway
one night, and stopped paying attention to the road…
Although he appears heartless to those that don’t know him; he is a
sad man today, who regrets his bad decisions. He had no foresight,
and was foolishly blind to his family. He feels pain, more than most.
By being absorbed into his business he lost everything of real value.
Like many people, you only know them by digging into their heart.
For me, it was an eye opening experience. You can find a soul at
the bottom of one’s foot.
