    Default Video Card Problems

I am thinking my Video Card is having some problems. My computer restarts w/o any BsoD or any warning. I could be playing 3d and 2d games fine, but sometimes it just restarts anyself...

Also, I'm gettinga lot of times where the screen goes black, and then comes back, with some images on the computer that turn into a mumbo of blue, grey, and red lines...

how do I check if it;s really my video card?

    Thanks

Is your video card new, or has it always worked fine before?

Got it Since the Begning of December, showing these thigns now. Not even sure if it's the GPU but I highly suspect it..

On Flash-Based sites, sometimes Powerpoint Word, or Flash Programs I would crash. I wouldn't crash on normal Youtube, but when I try to fullscreen I crash.

Sometimes, if it dosn't crash this is what happens.

I'm suspecting Video Card, but memtest and prime for a while did not show up with any error. I don't know if it;'s my video card or not, as it's soething that happens with Flash, and Word.

    Thank You.

Sorry, I do not know how to check; but I offer a data point:

I was experiencing the same thing you are --> CTD or uncommanded warm boot at odd intervals, after I upgraded video cards. Sometimes I could go for 10 hours with no problem; but sometimes my machine crashed 10 times in an hour. I changing drivers and did web research, etc., and never figured it out. The old card worked well; but a similar card (same vendor) produced the saem crashes. A techy guy at the store where I got the components for my new machine said that cheaper MOBOs sometimes don't play well with some cards. I have the same video card and a new MOBO and it works like a dream. So it could be that your MOBO is fighting with the video card... and you lose.

Without looking at it in detail, my first guess would be heat.

Random reboots without warning, and extreme artifacts being displayed (random colours and things) are both fairly common symptoms of overheating. Depending on where you live, it could have just started this because spring/summer temperatures are rolling in.

    lots of guesses
    1. psu
    2. videocard
    3. heat
    4. defective ram
    5. dirty power

you have to isolate the problem

run memtest to make sure it is not the ram
    if possible try another videocard
check the heat in bios after a reboot (everything close t 70degrees is bad)
disable fastwrite in your videocard and bios
completely remove all videodrivers, install the new ones (latest) and restart

if all doesnt help check if you have a good psu..if not spend 50$ to get a good one. if you have a high end card you might wanna spend more on the psu.
get a powerbar that filters voltage peaks

    what videocard do you have?

I have frequent reboots with my old computer thats now in the recycle bin, can't figure out why, but some friend pull out my RAM and said could be memory error and seriously it was, computers are unpredictable, there are still other causes to reboots that i don't know.
