I used to think pretty bad of them. 5 years ago I would have maintained the statement that they should be paid minimum wages, and how they're like misleading the general public etc.
But now I have a broader view on things. Thanks to Gwen Stefani actually. There's this line from her "Rich Girl" song:
This somehow co-incided with the concept of social justice. Many popular celebrities did not come from super-rich families. We have a concept how people should have the option to strike it rich etc. I think popular celebrities did represent that ideal and are real lively representations. And right now, these popular celebrities are probably doing more to alleviate the problems that the world is facing compared to the government top-shots we have looking down on us common masses. We climbed all the way from the bottom to the top
Pop-stars, rock concerts and various artists are the forefront of the concept of people power and popular representations. They're the ones that cheered the students of Tiananmen, and also supported the Civil Rights Movement and Free Speech. So my view on them have started inclined towards the more positive side.
