    Default Rome save game?

I have looked for about 30 minutes now and cant find any topics on where the save games are for Rome. I want to copy one of my save games and move it to this computer, however I cant find it. I have looked in the appdata, local, virtual store area but it is not there. Any help is appreciated.

This is a save from Roma Surrectum II

This depends on your computer set-up, I suppose. What's your OS? And do you have the Steam version?

Edit: Since Cyrus gave the Vista path, I'll give the 32-bit XP version.

    C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\saves

Note that this is for the default path.

    For Vista 32Bit:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Rome - Total War New\saves

Try right clicking on the shortcut for RTW and click on "Open file location." There should be a "save" folder in there.

I would have thought that with Steam being installed in the program files folder that any save will not be in that folder (as it's 'protected' by Windows) but in the 'virtual store' or 'appdata' area.

This is a hidden folder so in order to show it you need to go into your folder options and click on the 'Show hidden files , folders and drives' as shown here:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The next thing to do is to find the 'appdata' area. The easiest way to start is to eunb %appdata% and then follow the logical path.

    It may be something like 'c:\Users\"user account"\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\saves......

This is off-topic a little by why do I keep hearing about windows "protecting" program files I bought a new laptop 3 months ago that has windows 7 and I've never had a problem diving into either program files folder and modding or changing the stuff in it.

It was a 'feature' added for Windows Vista and has continued with Windows 7.

I can only presume it's an expansion of the 'nanny state'. I mean - having to put 'Waring - could be hot' on a cup of coffee......

It's just trying to protect the less experienced PC users out there.

I know that the first thing most people do with Vista and 7 is to turn off User Account Control (UAC) before installing nay games.

The advice for anyone with Vista or 7 is to turn off UAC and to create a folder to hold you games away from the program files folders (64 bit OSs have two).
