    Default Officers and centurions?

Other than having an extra men or two in a unit, what are the benefits of having an officer or centurion? Formations? Realism?

    Thanks

Very good question. I haven't noticed any real reaction to one's death. They have more hitpoints and strength, though, I think...

Any unit can have the general in, if you dont have a family member in the army. Im not sure how it works out what unit the general should go into, but it just adds one extra person.

As for the officers, I think theyre just there to look good more than anything

Unit does not need to have officers for that to happen, its just the unit with the captain in, having other officers in the unit has no effect on this. Captains are not classed as officers as they are defined seperately from the unit files and are added to a single unit in a battle to act as a leader.

i just think the officers and bearers can take extra damage, ive never noticed anything happen, ive seen 2 units the same starting strenght the same unit take on a unit each which are the same and 1 unit lost more men and had lost the officer but the other one ran still with officer with less kills on them so i dont think morale is affected by them
