Default Failed to find steam. Error

Hello, I am new to this game, my friend got it for me via steam and everytime I try to open it through steam or a shortcut a popout would always come up saying "Failed to find steam". I need help to stop this problem, I've tried right clicking the game then going to properties then going to set launch options and writing "-show_err -nm -mod:ExRM" but it still doesn't work. Any suggestions? By the way, it works if I just opened steam, but when I close the game and play it again after awhile it show the "Failed to find steam" thing. Thanks again, Mates.

I have this issue too. Very recently appeared, and annoying too.

I find that totally exiting steam (click "steam" and then "exit") and starting it again works best.

If that fails, then delete the ClientRegistry.blob in the steam folder after exiting steam.

    what ccgr1121 said.

ALso, do not make the mistake i did. I read a piece of advice saying to uninstall steam and then reinstall it. That may or may not work, but be sure to back up all your game files because uninstalling steam doesn't just remove the steam front end, it removes all the steam downloads you've ever done too.

(at least i had a nice clean hard drive afterwards)

    I actually did that

Had to restart GTA VC and SA after that

    Oh, and it doesn't work

Try putting the -mod: first before the other switches.....

This is just a guess as I don't run R:TW through Steam.

    Yes, it's VERY annoying.

Now, everytime I want to play RTW I delete clientregistry.blob (even made a shortcut to the Steamfolder on my desktop just to do this).
But I don't feel good about this, there must be some other way?
