In vanilla Medieval 2 there were two tower defenses: Ballista towrs which could then be upgraded to Cannon towers. In Third Age there is just Ballista towers right? Is it possible to change the cannon towers to "Trebuchet Towers"? To make them look like the defenses of Minas Tirith in the Return of the King movie. That way huge cities like Minas Tirith and citadels like Barad-dur can have those and be better defended. In my games Gondor does not know how to use the spawned trebuchet units inside the city. Is it possible to give custom settlements tower defenses in the first place?

Busy as ants hurrying orcs were digging, digging lines of deep trenches in a huge ring, just out of bowshot from the walls; and as the trenches were made each was filled with fire, though how it was kindled or fed, by art or devilry, none could see. All day the labour went forward, while the men of Minas Tirith looked on, unable to hinder it. And as each length of trench was completed, they could see great wains approaching; and soon yet more companies of the enemy were swiftly setting up, each behind the cover of a trench, great engines for the casting of missiles. There were none upon the City walls large enough to reach so far or to stay the work.

That doesn't contradict what he said, only in the book the catapults upon the walls couldn't reach the orc's staging area.

I don't think it would be possible to put trebuchets on the walls though, almost certainly a game limitation.

Trebuchets could not be put on walls historically anyway. Have you any idea of the force unleashed when firing those beasts?

This mod isn't exactly following the laws of medieval warfare, so I reckon that trebuchet towers for Gondor would be a very good addition, if it is at all possible. If not, could it be made so that there's an open area of wall to place a unit of trebuchet to fire from, just not a tower defense type thing.

I was thinking about regen times for units, and I thought that orcs regenerating fastest in mountains and grassland was a bit weird. Mountains I get, but I thought it strange that orcs would do so well on the plains. I thought maybe there could be another terrain type, something like "blasted land", where they would do the best. This would of course include all the inner area of mordor, and perhaps around isenguard as well. That's just my 2 cents

I know that this isnt a suggestion but i just wanted to post this where it would get seen.

Who ever made the custom settlements for this mod has more patience then anyone i have ever known. I tried learning today and was lost within 10 minutes.

I just have one question: Would you be willing to teach others to do it? i mean i know its a long process but there is this mod that would be alot better with custom settlements

    thanks

I thiink that is necessary to put Arnor with the right banner, with the right colour in the map, etc... no? I mean we are in the version 3.2 and this bug never was fixed.

I would like to see Merchant Militia recruitable at the tier 2 barracks instead of at the current tier 3 barracks for both city and castle. The reason for my saying this is that it takes an incredibly long time to get up to city level. It is depressing to watch a full stack of Breeland Militia and Archer Militia under the command of Aragorn simply bounce off a stack of 6 Uruk Hai without a general present. If not that than raise the attack of the Breeland Militia to 2. Currently in the they are probably the worst unit in the game. Lastly, with the very slow recruit time in my games anyway, that I may have recruited 7 or 8 Merchant Militia by the time I reform Arnor.

Secondly, I have often wondered and scratched my head as to why a large town has the same recruiting capacity as a huge city or a wooden castle having the same capacity as a citadel. I would add recruitment_slots 3 for large and huge cities and also for fortresses and citadels. I have played with 4 slots but that is a bit too much in my opinion.

Hi, I used to play this mod back when it was 1.4, I believe. Loved it then. D/L'ed 2.1 but then never really played it. Busted it out, saw that 3.2 was now available and I love it even more than I did a few years back, great work, team!
My suggestion would be (and I apologize if this has been submitted already):
Have mercenaries available in more regions of the map, please.

    Thanks!

Can you make Buhr Mahrlinge for the 3.3 patch? I mean North Rhun is just huge and I dont really know why it is not in the mod as nothing in the books mention Buhr Mahrlinge being abandoned? It was captured by Dale in the Third Age and it can only have grown from that time. Here, it should be somewhere around this area, just much further south.

    Hi,
Another suggestion please. I don't know how everybody would feel about this, but because it is so difficult to get a great economy running with many factions and the wait time to get settlements upgraded is so long, I find one of my biggest problems is that generals take so long to die. Generals can cost up to 500 gold per turn upkeep and you get so many of them that it can bankrupt someone. Playing as the High Elves I must admit that having a bunch of them alleviates the need to recruit cavalry units but there upkeep per turn is killing me. I have gotten to the point that I send the worse ones off on suicide missions just to reduce my monthly costs. I hate doing this but with the fact that they live well into the 100's forces the issue. Would it be possible to reduce their lifespan (of all generals) to something more manageable, say maxing out at somewhere between 80 and 100 years of age? Thanks.

Alex, you do realise that you do not have to accept all adoption offers? In fact ANY guide will tell you that you should not. Only accept the best ones.

lol, fully aware of the fact that I don't have to accept adoption offers, I never do. It's just that children are born regularly, just like in M2 and because the existing generals live so much longer than the vanilla version of the game, you end up with a significantly higher number of generals than you would in basic M2. Like I said, just a suggestion, that's all, would like not to have to send them off to die because they cost me too much to maintain. Thanks :-)

This isn't a perfect solution, but try it.

The Executioner submod, in a nutshell, lets you kill off any of your characters, without needing to send them into battles/on ships.
I haven't tried it though- I never felt the need.

I realize that Ents are available only via the autonomy of Fanghorn, they only stay with you for a short while, etc. I would love it if the Ents were available as Mercenaries in the Fanghorn region, perhaps only to the "good" factions, if that is possible.

Ents do not fight for money, period. What interest could they have in such? It is directly against Lore.

But, this thread is not for discussion.
