Ok, my top songs, in order, and brief descriptions as to why I like them;
Redemtion Song-Bob Marley
This is my all time favorite song. Infact, this song is probably the reason I have become a huge Marley fan. The Guitar part isnt anything special, altough it serves its purpose well. Its not meant to blow you away, it simply sets the tone for the words which are the real feature of the song. Now, the words are what set this song apart from anything else I have ever listend too. Not only do they flow perfectly like a peom, but the actual meaning behind the words is mezmorizing. Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our mind. The whole sum of all the factors is that 1) it instills a sense of freedom, and 2) it is extremely relaxing. I find that the combination of these two feelings is much more apealing than anything else a song could give me. Overall Id rate this song to be 10/10. It achieves exactly what it intends and leaves us with a new sense of ourselves. What music should be.
Freebird-Lynard Skynard
Favorite Song number two. This song, like Redemtion Song, is what got me into Lynard Skynard(see a pattern?). Unlike Redemtion song, the guitar is actually the main focus of this song. Whenever I listen to it, it just reminds me that the band mastered the guitar, were few have ever done. It seems they have complete control over music itself and have engineered the tune to perfection. Add on to this the words and we have a masterpiece. The Song is so tranquil, yet at times a surge of energy just explodes throughout the body. I can't really name a song that shares this effect. Truly a work to last the ages.
Song of the South-Alabama
My third favorite song. Like the previous two it got me into the band, however this one has something esle to be proud of, Alabama is country music, which is a genre i hate. However, the band simply trancends genre and is enjoyable for just about anybody who gives them the chance. This song doesn't have a particularly amazing musical, yet by no means is the sound bad. It like Redemtion song is more or less just to set the tone. The Words however, are a different story. Infact, Id say the lyrics are second only to Redemtion song. No particularly strong message, but the words are just put so well. Especially being a southerner, this song really inspires something inside. I reccomend it for anyone who wants to have a breath of fresh air, for that is exactly what this song is.
