    Default Directx (again)

Playing RSII for about a week and it was running fine. I had a sudden CTD and when I tried to restart got the 'directx not found the game needs it to run please reinstall' msg. I tried that but got the same msg, so I un-installed RTW and started from scratch. Still the same msg.

    Any ideas?

    Yes.

    Same Msg.

Tried to run in compatibility with XP (SP2 and 3) same msg.

No but I made a separate copy for RSII (as per instructions) and it worked fine.

I also get the same Msg when I try to run vanilla RTW and Alex..

If it worked beofre, it should work, again, says logic.

I wonder if it's time for http://shoguntotalwar.yuku.com/topic...Rome-Total-War before reinstalling.

Blame Bill Gates and Steve Balmer for Windows lack of agreement.

Clueless as I am I am familiar with the 'turn it off and on again' protocol.

I even managed to do a system restore which as luck would have it fixed whatever had gone wrong. It's often the last thing I think of but nearly always the answer..

The question to ask here is what you've downloaded or installed since your last Restore Point. Maybe there is an answer there. Also how often do you make Restore Points? Good luck!

Haha yeah i actually forget this sometimes and waste several hours and finally try it to find out that the driver was hanged and needed a restart.

Anyways please attach your dxdiag.txt file as an attachment, i need to see it & remove your machine name from it like you did in the OP.

If don't want to do it then check this part in your report, it should be exactly like this:
    ------------
    DxDiag Notes
    ------------
Display Tab 1: No problems found.<----This one
Sound Tab 1: No problems found.
Sound Tab 2: No problems found.
    Input Tab: No problems found.

Glad you're back in business, Halie.

System Restore has never saved me. I get to that point for me, reformat and start over.

I checked, it was all fine. Something, I don't know what but suspect it was mod related, caused system crash. *Shrugs, it seems to be running fine now though..

Even time DirectX refuses to exist for me, I just reboot and suddenly it's fine.
