    Default Loading issues

I used to have the old rome total war with 3 discs etc. Which ran ok, minus a couple of glitches. I also ended up with a Rome Total War "white label" version which I resorted to as there were no glitches at all and the game has worked fine for a couple of years.

I am not sure what has happened (I may well have accidentally deleted something off my laptop), but now when the start up screen appears and I press "play", it immediately says there has been a problem and that Rome needs to close. I know that my laptop was capable of playing the game before and that the game works on a friend's laptop.. so I am not sure how to find out what us wrong (sorry I am not very good tech wise!).

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. And although the game installs apparently successfully, when I have the screen up and press play, or click on the link to load the game, it still comes up with the "there has been a problem" message.

I would really appreciate some help. I am not very good technology wise, but I am sure with some helpful guidance I will finally be able to play Rome again!

When you uninstalled, did you also delete the Rome Total War folder, run a registry cleaner like Eusing Free Registry Cleaner, and reboot before reinstalling? This uninstaller does not clean up behind itself.

I did not do that, so I will give it a go and see what happens.

My concern is that it may be another programme or driver that has been uninstalled/deleted that is causing the problems, because it was working fine one day and then not the next?

Irishron, I tried as you suggested. I uninstalled the game again and then deleted the files, followed by using Eusing registry cleaner. Then rebooted. I reinstalled the game but although it installed ok again, when I press play it comes up with the same error.

Is there any software/programmes that are also needed along with RTW to run? Any other suggestions very much welcome (willing to try anything haha)

Have you tried a clean install with the UAC disabled? There are other files that are supposed to be installed that Vista can block "thinking" you have a "newer version installed".

I have loading issues in mod of "The Fall of Rome" for "RTW - BI" when trying to go into the battle from strategy map.
When loading line shows, in the begining it loads a little, then freeze for 5-7 seconds, after that continue to load and after half of line it crashes to desktop.
I thought to see what wrong in the log file but didn't find it in the game folder. Is there a way somehow to enable log file as it done in M2TW ?
    With respect.
