My questions and comments after playing RTR

These are just some small questions and comments of mine i put together in one post.

I read a lot of history. Recently i read an book about Gaulish warriors. It also had a lot of pictures. The Gauls were wearing helmets. I have also read about the Germans who also seem to wear helmets. At least some of them. Why are most of the Gauls and Germans in RTR without one?

In the first punic war Gaul mercenaries served about 20 years in Sicily. I find it hard to believe that they only wore trousers. They must had more cloathes.

Why are naked fanatics not availble as mercenaries?

Why are Spanish heavy Cavalry not recruiteble mercenaries?

I like to group my units. But in RTR the formations don't work. When i press double line i get something else.

I also like to make armies my are as historical as possible.
This is my roman stack
1 general
1 italian cav
1 Equites
1 hastati, 1 principe, 1 triari, velites (1legion)
1 hastati, 1 principe, 1 triari, velites (2legion)
2 Italian swordmen and 1 spearmen (allies)
2 Italian swordmen and 1 spearmen (allies)

As carthage it is great to have so many units to choos but usualy
my stack looks like this
1 general
2 numidian cavalry
1 Gaul Cav
1 Spanish Cav
2 slingers
2 berber javelins
1 elephant
4 Libyphoenican
6 Units of gauls or/and spaniards

What i already tried many times with the carthagecampaign is take an army and the route of Hannibal and invade Italy. It is pretty difficult. I play H/M. But the Romans come at you with 5 stacks or you. So you must picked your battles and make good of mercenaries. If do well you can hold out in Italy for a long time.

More i don't know.

Gaul is one of the factions that is yet to be redone. Their current units are little more than placeholders. The Germans don't have helmets probably because there was no proof that they were that commonplace. In fact, I believe Germania was an area that wasn't particularly rich in iron, hence the lack of helmets for their unit.

That's DarthFormations 8.5 at work. Try downloading Marcus Camillus' Player Formations Mod. Then select your whole army and hit (I think) Shift+8, that should give you a quincux formation right off the bat.

And I like your historical Legion, that looks about right to me, as do the Carthaginians. With Carthage, though, I think you have a bit more freedom to swap some things around whenever you want to.
