    Default Romans Projectils

i would like to skip the fireing weapon of some roman units that, before charging, shoot at ennemi; because when i charge them, what they do is stay still and wait couple of second and shoot , in stead of fighting back-> it looks like a bug and to remove it. I know it is in ex desc unit and i spend houres on it last night, i ended up with no projecil but in stead of the sword, they had the projectil in they hands and i coulnd do better; Please tell me what i have to change to put away the Fire mode and make them use their sword always ?? i hope you understand what i mean.

    Thanks

You would have to edit the model for this to work. You cna always use alt + click to attack units, so the roman units will attack with swords if you use alt + click.

are you sure there is nothing i can do about it in exp desc unit ?? there is gotta be a way when changin pri to sec weapon and so on...
I know about the alt + click, but i play against ROmans, and when i fight them, they dont because they recharge and they all get killed in 15 seconds -> so battle are very short !?

No you cannot, what weapons the unit uses is assigne din the model, so even if you change stuff in descr_model_battle.txt and export_descr_unit the romans will still use the javelins as melee weapons, as that is assigned as the primary weapon in the model. Believe me, editing the model is the only way.

If you have 3ds max and the cas import/export script it is not hard at all. All you would need to do would be to import the roman infantry models, delete the pila from the models, rename the sword to primary weapon, the export the model replacing the old one. Then of course you would need to edit export_descr_unit.txt and descr_model_battl.etxt so the roman units only use one weapon.
