Does anyone know anything about a Jamaica faction mod?
Does anyone know anything about a Jamaica faction mod?
Yes, I don't know to much of their history, so thanks! But I just thought it would be something different to play around with, always looking for a good exotic mod. Thanks for the input!
According to wikipedia, Jamaica was established as an independant country in 1962.....i do not know of any mods currently out for Empire TW (or any Total War title for that matter) that cover 1962.
Plus, what kindof military would they have? What would be their war strategy, get the enemy addicted to marijuana and then kill them with ultra loud Reggae? sorry i dont see this is being a serious mod by any means. But if you really want to make it regardless then read up some tutorials, creating a new faction isnt too hard to do (ive done it myself)![]()

I don't believe that a wargaming forum should contain such a rubbish post. Aren't you developing an exotic mod yourself?
I will offer a proper reply
Much of the Jamaican interior was independent following the Maroon War of 1731 after fighting the British to a standstill. Much of it still was, after the second Maroon War of 1795 after Britain took on one of the two Maroon factions.
I do not think it would be viable to integrate a Jamaica mod in the main ETW game, except to substitute maroons for rebels if Jamaica revolts, assuming the game doesn't do that already.
Otherwise the only other option would be a separate campaign with 3 factions, British ,and Leeward or Windward Maroons set during the time period of either war.
As for tactics, in the first war the Brits had the same problems they had fighting Indians in wooded terrain.
The Haiti war of Independence could be an interesting variant of NTW.
If someone could produce a map for Jamaica for MTW2, I would happily write one myself , model permissions permitting.
