well the battle for helms deep should be a challenge for the player to even win before the cavalry arrive but how many units are supposed to be planned for the cavalry army?
Man this is AWESOME! Keep up the good work![]()
hey i dont know if it is just me but since i dowloadid this, when ever i select the faction for gondor the game crashes and exists or when i select minas tirith, i dont know if it is related to this dowload or no but i dont want to delete it coz its amazing, does it happen to anyone else?
Instructions for the gandalf model for Gondor are in a post of mine in the first page
please could you make a version whith no silvian elves (because what would elves be doing there, the book says that they are busy trying to defend their home) and gandalf bringing the reinforcements (not Eomer)
Is it somehow possible to add more Siege Towers to the Mordor army which the Orcs actually use?? Cause if I add some, the enemy always uses just the original four and leaves the others standing on the Pelennor.
It's the same for Helm's deep but even worse.. I made that one for myself and gave the Uruks 4 ladder units.. but they only used ONE..kinda frustrating
is there any solution to this? scripting them to use the siege engines somehow?
Because my battles are more movie oriented and this is how I like it. That does not mean that I do not value the books, it simply means that I create these battles according to MY preference. If I were to take EVERY proposition into account, I would have to upload ~10 versions of the same battle, which is just silly.
I already stated that if I assign more siege towers, the AI demonstrates really random behavior and in most cases doesn't even utilize the additional siege engines. I am pretty positive that 4 siege towers are enough for now.
In the historical battle that I am currently working on, the Isengard army manages to utilize 3 ladder units. However, as I mentioned countless times, the reinforcement issue is what keeps me from releasing the Helm's Deep battle.
Good!Well done.

Amazing work in terms of scale! However...
The battles are all but unplayable due to the EXTREME slideshow lag.
I have a very powerful computer, and it runs both Minas Tirth and Helm's Deep fine UNTIL you have half the units trying to pile in through the same siege towers/ladders/gate...then it's completely unplayable for almost the rest of the battle.
i7 Quad core 2630qm
8gb RAM
nVidia GT540m 2gb graphics card
These battles just murder the FPS to a slideshow.
Would there be any way for you to only allow 1 or 2 units at a time to use a siege tower/ladder/gate?
I think that would really help with the performance issues I'm sure everyone is experiencing.
In addition, maybe it would be a good idea to release alternate versions of each battle with about 50-60% of the total soldiers. Just to allow more people to experience the awesomeness!
hi there u have done an amzing job scripting the three ladders but can i make a suggestion iam trying to create the deeping wall breach effect. The best way seems to be 3 isen ballista fully upgraded target the wall and takes 10-15 mins to breach. i added them manully but the third army on the right no longer attacks helms deep moves to the rear and stays there but the other 2 ladders attack normally could u help me do this or give me more information on how to script army attacks. I aslo think that this will help reduce lag as the army will move through the breach rather than try to climb ladders with like 15 unuts at one time as the walls seem rather glitchy some units get stuck.
Yeah 4 siege towers is plenty. Remember that there are only about 13,000 orcs in the battle, while in the movie and book there were something like 300,000. I also think there should be fewer mumakil, given the smaller proportions of this version of the battle.
I absolutely love this project![]()
hi there if you having an issuse with the helms deep battle here is my suggestion. If u need to have the reinforicng army but u cant set it as ai the soloution to this would be to have the player control the elfs how defended helms deep only say mabye four - 6 elite elven units so they have the free unit card slots nesscery to control the rohan reinforcemnts. This was how they did the battle orignaly pre custum settlement.
It a shame if u cant lead the rohirum as i prfer them over elves, i have always hated elves but they are awesome units with high skill and in the moive they win the battle despite being slaughtered thus giving rohan time to win. It would also be a challenge for the player to use a limted amount of elves backed up with rohan ai the ai will prob loose as rohan troops are weakest in the game if iam not misataken so u need to allocate units effectively given the small amount avaible still the rohan cavlary arrives.
@Metallistic
I did not say that you should add more I asked if there is a way of adding more myself AND the AI using them.. but i guess there is not then..
Regarding Helm's Deep how did you manage 3 ladder units being used? in my version i have 3 berserker units with ladders but just one of em uses em.. and then i have a big bunch of uruks standing in front of 4 ladders wich just looks odd..
Concerning the reinforcement issue I would just give the defenderrs of the Hornburg like 12 or 13 units and then make the reinforcements 7 or 8 units with bigger unit sizes ( you can go up to 300 i Think)
I was just watching the movie, and in it they were 300 men of Rohan, about the same number of elves, and 10000 orcs. That seems doable on the gaming engine.
I think your custom battles are brilliant! I love the books but the movies are epic when it comes to the battles which I personally like. Keep up the good work I am eagerly awaiting Helm's deep where I can bash some Uruks heads in![]()
Helm's Deep is up! Enjoy.![]()
Lol on the minas tirith siege I wouldnt mind more units!^^'
