    Default Dedicated RTW PC

Hello, I built the current PC I have last year and I found that RTW cannot utilize the processor's second core. Even with adequate memory and good video card my newer computer can't handle huge unit sizes and up to 4800 men on a battlefield. It runs the battle but it lags. So I got to thinking, perhaps I should build a separate PC with the fastest single core AMD Athlon 64, a socket 939 nForce4 Ultra motherboard, a good PCI-E video card, a quick SATA hard drive and 4 GB's of DDR400 RAM. When I built my first computer over 5 years ago, the components listed above would be top of the line, but these days you can get these components for next to nothing. I do however want a smaller case, but that is mainly dictated by the motherboard and I am not even sure they make a worthy microATX motherboard for the performance I am looking for.

So has anyone else in the boat I am in where their dual-core processor provides no benefit to RTW?

I play Europa Barbarorum and the details of the units is amazing and I know it pushes to engine to the limits, and I would love to play epic battles without wondering what is happening because of the lag.

Everyone is in the same boat - multi-cores are wasted on this game.

The game was released in 2004 so that is pretty much to be expected.

    My system (Intel Core i7 Extreme processor 975(3.33GHz,8MB L2 cache,6.4GT/sec), Memory : 6144MB (3 x 2048) 1067MHz DDR3 Tri-Channel and a pair of GTX295s in SLI) runs it OK with everything on max at resolution 2560x1600.

Has anyone tried to run RTW on a dual single core processor motherboards? You would think two single core processors would be even better!

Which Microsoft Operating System is best or does it matter?

What size is your screen to support 2560x1600 resolution?

Dedicated to Rome you say? Two cups and a string and a camera obscura should do the trick.
