Default The Building Site of the new Montgomery Manor

In Oxfordshire stood the village of Wooton, and it was here that Alex Montgomery sought to build his new residence. The grounds were marked off, to the distance of 300 acres. The Poles were then summoned.

A dozen Polish men came hauling several carts of building materials. They began setting up camp in and around the building site. Wladyslaw came later with some more men and began surveying the site. The excavation for the foundation of the building would probably begin tomorrow barring any unforeseen event...

    Village of Wooton
While the men slept outside in their tents, a sudden late night storm swept through Wooton drenching the building site from twelve in the night to two in the morning. However brief its passing was, it has effectively turned the site into a deep morass. Awoken early by his men, Wladyslaw watched the storm pass with great anxiety; he surveyed the field afterwards and carefully directed his men to lay planks of wood near the camp. When morning broke he strolled to the temporary lodgings of Alexander to discuss the design of the manor.

So where is that new manor of yours?

William asked as he entered the cottage...

Wladyslaw was nearby looking over Alexander's shoulder. His plans were alright, and Alexander seemed to thoroughly enjoy himself playing as an architect, but in the case that he should find himself at a loss for ideas, Wladyslaw was at hand with several design plans for the manor.

"Sir, the current foundations would more than suffice for a modest improvement, should you choose of course"
Wladyslaw opened two large documents. And laid them flat across William's table. He took two silver figurines from William's chest of eastern trinkets: an elephant and a naked Indian woman to hold the papers from folding back

"In accordance to your original plans, we will see to it that the stones be shipped from the finest quarries from France, and great Oaks from further North would be brought in as the support beams. And we have also detached the servant wing of the manor as per requested. Minor changes to the original plan include having the servants live with the horses to save space for your garden and adding more chimneys. For those cold nights."

"I dare say my favorite of the two. This spacious manor design by the design firm Goldstein and Goldstein(A subsidiary of Kazimier Capital Company, "Best Company in Europe" yes a shameless add-Deal with it), is considerably more spacious than the later proposal but we may have to do additional excavations to accommodate the external wall. Borrowing concepts from older Medieval manor houses, back in the days when the King's peace was in its infancy, the construction of the outer wall will be outsourced to Ben Haim's securities(A subsidiary of Kazimier Capital Company...) who are experts in wall construction, but rest assured they are also the cheapest. As you may notice from the designs the manor has a prominent tower that guards the main entrance gate, a truly breathtaking sight especially when it is furnished with the banners of your family. Your keen eye may have also noticed that the house is elevated on a plateau, aside from creating the illusion of a bigger manor, the entrance gate leads the guest underground to the garden where you may greet them, this also adds an extra layer of protection should enemies try to storm your manor, but I digress. There are two floors in total, excluding the attic and the secret underground hall...as requested. Household furnishings have yet to be decided upon, I suppose you will decide upon that but may I suggest Asner's Dream Home Furnishing(A subsidiary of Kazimier Capital Company...) "

(((I'm not an expert on Medieval pricing. So I can't give an exact number)))
"I believe the current budget will suffice, but should there be any need for further funding I will inform you forthwith sir."
With that he bowed, and left for the building site.

It was a grand sight, with mighty walls now encircling the manor, it would be shielded from all threats or so exclaimed the overjoyed Wladyslaw. A silent prayer was offered to the nine who perished when their scaffolds fell, but many of the workers were now fearful of the walled manor and were quite happy to leave. Their superstitions were merely shrugged off by the Kazimier directors who have now gathered outside to survey their success. And it was a great triumph indeed, made sweeter by its early completion. And though their crowning glory was beset by dark stormy clouds, they celebrated with drinks offered to God, and to their patron Alexander Montgomery; and their leader Wladyslaw Kazimier. Who humbly accepted their adorations with a sliver of a smile and a simple nod, in spite of the fact that he has built the manor at a loss...but that was irrelevent to the greater scheme of things...
