    Icon5 convert to pagan

Hello guys, is there any way to change the religion in norway?

    You cannot convert religion in-game.
If you're willing to fiddle around the files a bit, you can change their religion permanently there.
It's been discussed in another thread earlier: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...t=Norway+Pagan

    You can change religions ingame...
There is a Lithuania change religion script somewhere... but: you have to script all possibilities! So its not like you can really choose what religion you will have... you must define it before starting the campaign and tie it to an event! Then you will be asked if you want to convert!
Another ( better ) example is from TATW where after reforging Arnor your religion is a different one! but also: that is not really an option as you have to script all possibilities before starting campaign! And the AI usually ignores stuff like that!

I wuold like the thought that Norway starts pagan and is able to change to something else after some event occurs...

it would be very cool if factions could change religion
for example the byzantine empire turns catholic to receive help from the west, probably a long shot though

As been said in the thread, not possible.

Are you sure that can happen in SS and not only in the vanilla MTW teutonic campaign.

Only if you script it... but yes it is possible!
But you have to do some work... I suggest you think about how much work you want to put in this as this changing-religion-ingame is not that easy to script!
...and if you will change it to pagan anyway its much easier to change it permanently to pagan from the beginning!
    3 files to be changed:

    Code:
    faction denmark
    culture northern_european
    religion catholic
    symbol models_strat/symbol_denmark.CAS
    rebel_symbol models_strat/symbol_rebels.CAS
    primary_colour red 239, green 185, blue 24
    secondary_colour red 0, green 69, blue 142
    loading_logo loading_screen/symbols/symbol128_denmark.tga
    standard_index 4
    logo_index FACTION_LOGO_DENMARK
    small_logo_index SMALL_FACTION_LOGO_DENMARK
    triumph_value 5
    custom_battle_availability yes
    can_sap no
    prefers_naval_invasions yes
    can_have_princess yes
    has_family_tree yes
Change the bolded text to whatever religion you want. Then in SS/data/world/maps/campaign/imperial_campaign/descr_strat you find your faction again and change their religion like this:
    Code:
    faction denmark, sailor smith
    ai_label catholic
    denari 10000
    denari_kings_purse 1900
Again, change the bolded text to whatever you want. In the same file, you should also find all of your faction's starting settlements and delete the religion buildings that they start with. Then the last step is to go to SS/data/export_descr_buildings.txt and remove your faction's ability to build your previous religion's buildings and add your faction to your new religion's buildings.

One additional step you might want to take is to change your home regions starting religion levels. I believe this can be done in SS/data/world/maps/base/regions.txt

Edit: The steps I described are pretty much the essential steps you need to take. I looked at your thread and it looks like the guy who responded wrote some extra steps that would make it better like changing the look of your priests.
If you do not change the religious buildings you will be able to build f.e. cathedrals wich push pagan religion... if you do not care about this change inly the 2 first files!

Probably because some of their settlements are set to start with one of the Catholic churches. If they no longer have ownership of that building line, it's bound to screw things up.

If I had to bet... I would bet exactly this!

    The problem will be in

    data/world/campaign/descr_strat.txt.

As Norway starts with 2 regions only ( or 3 ) its only a bit of work!
search for "bergen" ( or some other settlements name that is owned by norway ) and just search the churches and overwrite them with the pagan version!
Best would be if you copy and paste this from a lithuanian settlement to make sure you have no typos!

Btw, considering the why of Norway not being pagan, is the thing that they were the first of the Scandinavian countries to accept Christianity as their primary religion. Well, theyre king accepted it for them and forcefully made his people do so as well.. but still
