    Default FRRE-Marius

I'd like to give you all some more info the Marius campaign that will be included in the FRRE mod.

    Start date: 107bc
    End date: 86bc

Turns per year: More than four, most likely 6

Victory conditions: A minimum of four, but we will include more.. :good:
    -Defeat Jugurtha in two years
-Defeat the Cimbri & Tuetoni hordes in four years
-Defeat the Socii in the Social war
-Protect Rome from your old friend Sulla
    ....

Units: New units for all factions, previews to come later

    Factions:

    Marius
    Sulla
    Socii
    Republic
    Maurentania
    Numidia
    Cantabri
    Amantini
    Scordisci
    Dacii
    Maedi
    Delmatae
    Cimbri
    Teutoni
    Ambrones
    Tigurini
    Aedui
    Vocates
    Cardurci
    Arverni

    EDIT: Revised faction list

    Map:
Is a highly researched and accurate map that’s a few times bigger than the vanilla map.
Here is the Marius campaign map:

    Economy & Government:

A brand new set of government buildings and inter-related scripts are being devised in order to reflect regionally specific Roman administrative practices. For example in the east we intend to show that the Roman "imperium" did not necessarily manifest itself in the form of geographically defined provinces or permanent armies.

    I’ll post more info when it’s ready…

Good things come to those that wait.

Trust me, unlike some mods, FRRE will in fact be released.

Oh don't worry, I'm sure it will. I'm just looking forward to the FRRE campaigns more than most.

    What with the Maccabees ?
They were independent from 161BC-65BC .

They won't be in the Marius campaign but i'll see if we can feature them in the Sulla campaign - if we get enough decent infomation on them...

That's your map?!? Oh dear. I'm quite disappointed, I must say. I was expecting realism ala-RTR 7.0, and I was expecting a map covering all of Europe, rather in the manner of TFT. I just hope that your future maps look rather better than that. It's better at least than Ice Torque's geographically warped map, but the geographical accuracy of this one is not overwhelming. The Peloponnese is mis-shapen, Euboea is a blob, Chalcidice has stubby, shapeless promontories, South Italy's peninsulas are too fat and stubby... Oh well. Maybe Sulla's will be better.

Yep, that's the map Sorry if it disappoints you! The reason why it's not RTR style is because:

    1) The A.I is better on smaller scale maps
    2) The campaign starts in 107bc & ends in 86bc, when Marius dies. He nerver fought in the east, he went over there as a private Citizen in the late 90's..So what exactly is the point of including vast areas of land and factions that never interacted with the Marians?
    3) The Map is cut from the lager version of the FRRE extended campaign map...yes you heard right
    4) Techincal Note: When a map is "enlarged" i don't mean canvass extensions, it will go "out of shape" fact. Look at all the other mods, ITW for instance, and you'll see what i mean.
    5) Sulla's map extents all the way to Istakhr...
    6) Pompey's Map is extended south to include Egypt
    7) Also you'll note the new factions in the Marius campaign.

All fair trade offs in my eyes.

Myself a geographically perfect map is not neccessary, so long as the strategic implications are all in place

I tend to prefer geographical accuracy, to be honest.

Hegemonia: Poleis Krate managed it perfectly (though they did use a more advanced method than you have, admittedly).

Ok, i have not seen that map before, and i admit i'm very, very impressed. Perhaps i'll use a BDH map...However the Marius campaign map will still be the same proportions.

Anyone that thinks a slightly mishapen map will detract from their game is perhaps playing the game for the wrong reasons. As long as the campaign map is "passable at a glance" i think it does the job. However.... I dont like things like Apulia touching Epirus (as it appears to almost do) - it is too much like land bridges which i detest.

Orb I can very quickly knock you up a heights tga of the area if you like, but there will be a hell of alot of work to do after that and im busy

Shaggy, thanks man - but i think i'll just stick to the map i've got and work on it more. I want to fix Africa definitely...And yes i need to remove the land bridges, i don't like em either!

This looks very interesting! I really like the way TFT and FRRE handle different campaigns .. I presume, as a 1.5 player, I won't be able to play this however?

    Looking awesome!

I like the four unique campaigns you have so far, and that you are making more of them is just beautiful.
    Especially love the victory-conditions.

I have one question and I hope this is the place to ask it.
Do you have a script creating units for the ai-players?
I have killed 9000 - 12000 Helvetii soldiers in less than
a year and yet when I press next turn they have full
    stacked armies.

No scripting involved in that regard. If you move your spy north right away, you'll see that the Helvetii start with five or so full stacks.
