    Default TATW 3.0 BUGS & ISSUES (READ 1st POST BEFORE POSTING!)

    Please report bugs and issues in this thread.
    Please give some information about the circumstances of the problem and if possible, post a picture.


    Known Bugs & Issues


    • The Fellowship Campaign was not supposed to be playable in the first 3.0 release. A silly mistake that I forgot to disable it.
    • The custom settlements are mainly designed for the campaign map, therefore custom battles with custom settlements should only be played 1 vs 1.
    • Dwarven Axethrowers can cause a crash.
    • Until the first patch is released, a quick fix is here. (Put the file into "Medieval II Total War/mods/Third_Age_3/data and overwrite the existing file)
    • Woodland Warriors unit is missing some axes.
    • Dunlending Clansmen have wrong shield textures
    • Minas Tirith misses some door textures where units go onto the walls.
    • Spelling errors in several texts
    • Balrogs gets hit by flaming projectiles cause a crash
    • Deployment of Black Gate can be messed up when attackers have reeinforcements.
    • Homeguard Cavalry has missing secondary weapons



    This is NO Bug:


    • passable water between Osgiliath (Reason: game limitation, no solution possible)
    • Projectiles in Osgiliath can sometimes fly through buildings (Reason: performance issues)
    • The game crashes before the first loading screens occurs (Reason: Installation was done in the wrong folder or one file of TATW 3.0 hasn't been installed)
    • Landbridges at Pelargir or the Anduin river (Reason: Prevents AI from being stuck)
    • Missing boiling oil (Reason: too much advantage for the player; not mentioned in Tolkien's lore)
    • Rebels stand besides a city at game start (Reason: has one)

    i was playing with the silvan elfes and in the third turn i was checking the "mirror of galadriel" and i press f3 and since then the game was on mute, no sound in battles or in the map.

    If you have an ASUS this can happen, just go to your setting and unmute your sounds. Happens to me when I hit any of the F* keys. This has nothing to do with TATW.

    Hi, there is something up with compattible problems on Windows. Tried to install serveral time tough the same message.

    Its in part one of the instalation. Also, its on windows 7 64 bit.

    Great mod btw.

    I can't buy trolls as gondor. Or am I mistaking you?

    EDIT: If you select 'ALL' era you can, but you aren't supposed to do that, you get a whole bunch of things that gondor shouldn't have. you get all the units in early era so no need to do that.

    I know of a bug that makes the player unable to attack some of the rebels/bandits.. You can´t click on them to attack them and it´s only a few that has the error.

    Just installed the mod through steam. followed the instructions and everything. when i first tried to play it, it started loading the third age page, then shut down due to an unspecified error. tried to play again and this time the screen went black as if to go into the game, then the unspecified error - error came up. how could i fix this? Also, the desktop shortcut says it cant find the .exe file?

    I have tried installing the game multiple times now, and each time I try to execute the install file an error message comes up and tells me that "This file contains invalid data." What can I do/can be done to fix this? If it helps, I am running Windows 7.
    Same thing here. Tried on both my stationary computer, running Windows 7 Home Premuim 64-bit, and a laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.



    Edit: Got it to work after downloading the files on the laptop, and copying the files from there. Apparently the stationary comp doesn't give a crap about integrity of downloaded files. Not a good thing when you spent 1000 € on it. Anyway: this is one of the best mods. Looking forward to some nice campaigns. Also: thanks to Dimitris_X for answering.

    if i were you i will download the mod again and if possible from diferrent link,(Legrasse).thanks (dago),i have not banners in all m2,kingdom mods and tatw 3.

    One minor issue, the special skin for Elornd on the battlefield is missing. It´s that of a generic Elven General. Though a really great skin, it was nice to have a special skin for Elrind like you have eg. for Elladan and Elrohir.

    There is no special skin for Elrond that I know of, just checked the model.db and unless he's named something different there isn't one.

    I don't know or it is the issue that KK already modified in 1st post...
    If so, how to resolve it?
    This is not a problem with TATW3.0, there is a problem with your installation which could be that you installed it wrong or put it in the wrong path. Also could mean that you have a corrupted download which means you need to download again.

    Thanks for reporting this(I confirm), I can tell you after studying the problem quickly that there is NO model for the Rebel general therefore it is using a MTW2 vanilla model as the general. This can be fixed by editing but just good to know that this is a problem so it can be fixed.

    Reinstall your third age, it seems that you have a faulty installation. Or you have a faulty download, if after reinstalling doesnt work try downloading again.

    This is an issue with custom settlements and I'm sure KK is looking into it, he mentioned that they should be 1v1 in custom battles, but idk how you can prevent this in campaign. This is a question reserved for him since I have | | this much knowledge of the IWTE tool.

    Must be a faulty saved file, just tested my saved battle replay and it opened just fine.

    I think that is a bug because arrows cannot fly through walls/buildings that I know of. Not sure though.

    This is most likely added because they are now Rivers instead of little streams that you could cross before. Mostly so you can move your troops around

    You probably set the culture wrong, set the culture to custom and then change the weather etc... I just tested it and it worked fine.

    It's quite annoying 'cause that way the enemy's always able to shoot down too many of my men

    unspecified error caused CTD in 3 player hotseat during a battle near east osgiliath turn 20ish first time this happened hope its nothing but best mention

    I'm not so sure about it. If we even leave behind the lore factor (Anduin being a natural defence and frontier of Gondor for centuries), it's not really nice gameplay-wise. Dunno about Gondor in 3.0, but previously it wasn't doing very well, and the land bridge in the middle of Anduin the Great won't help Gondor much. I was going to play Gondor as soon as my download is completed

    ...any way to fix it quickly on my own?

    And if i read the descr correctly ,the entire corsair submod is also intergrated.I severly doupt Gondor's ability to survive.Now ,the super-generals that play gondor might not notice a difference,but the AI is bound to get destroyed and ruin your campaign with an other faction.A way must be found so that gondor wont die in 50-70 turns as it did usually,and i dont think this is helping.

    Also,am i the only one that sees Harad/Ruhn having highways from turn one,in nearly all of their regions,even villages(!)?I deleted them manually ,but id like to know if they were intentional.

    These aside,the game stepped into an entire new level with custom settlements.Its bloody amazing.
