I just uploaded the mod and the intro picture is shown...then a window pops up saying that there was an unexpected error and that the program will shut down. Any reason why this is happening?

This has been a somewhat common problem throught tatw's history but it's never clear why it happens. Did you apply the official Kingdoms patches (1.04 or 1.05) before installing TATW?
Maybe try this "fix" (just the step 6 I think): http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...ighlight=error
Reinstalling M2/Kingdoms and applying the patches in order might help but it's hard to say.
It seems I have 1.03. I thought it had 1.04 or 1.05. Time to go find the patches and see if this works!
Would I need both patches or just one?

If you have the 1.05 patch that automatically means you have 1.04 as well and it's possibly the better option but just 1.04 ought to be enough. KK says that tatw is compatible with both.
I know it's a pain but I'd recommend deleting/uninstalling everything and then installing M2 -> Kingdoms -> Official Patch -> TATW from scratch.
Got a suggestion on where to find a good 1.05 patch? The one I downloaded isn't working.

Maybe the one you have is the wrong language version, keep that in mind.

I don't know where you live or where you got your game but if you have an English version and the US patch doesn't work then you need to try the UK and EU patch versions.

Oh there's also a 1.05 US patch and a Gold version 1.05 US patch. Both are in the TWC thread.
Yeah I got the gold version from steam.

Oh, so you have a Steam version. In that case the game should be up to date patch-wise as Steam auto-updates.
Check out the Steam install instructions in the 3.0 release thread (KK's opening post ofc), scroll all the way down.

It wasn't. Thats the thing. Before I uninstalled it from my hard drive, the Medieval 2 said that it was v1.03 (Checked the upper right hand corner in the Options tab). I used the Kingdoms Launcher App to add it to the list when the Launcher was activated. I may just try the initial option first to see if it works.

M2 is 1.03 but Kingdoms should be 1.05 (they have separate version numbers) unless by Medieval 2 you meant Kingdoms.

Ok, so all that's needed is to adjust the folder names for Steam.
Apparently there's also a bug that can cause ctds for Steam users, see here if you have problems: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...3#post10727493
Seems more like game mechanics though. The launching problem for me is just a fault/error on my part. I probably didn't click the Kingdom.exe when I used the Kingdom Launcher App but thanks for giving me this link, I may need it later if I experience the same problems
