:eekout:
hhh..well...hhh. no, actually BI has no official update. waht you're having a look at is a modification of the actual game, made by skilled volunteers. i can definately recommend it, since the difference is immense.
cheers

I guess I didn’t explain very well. I am quite familiar with how things work and have been playing darth's mods for awhile. It is indeed an outstanding group that produces outstanding work. My question is does the 7.5 update also update RTW or does it just make the BI expansion pack now playable? Due to the fact for some reason I cant stand BI.
Thanks in advance
it updates both
What do most of you guys play? BI or RTW?
I play RTW mainly as i like that time period betterOriginally Posted by bababooey
I certainly agree with you there. What might be some of the advantages of the BI engine over the RTW engine? Or if patched properly can they do the same things?
Thanks
Well some features like hording, swimming, religon i cant think about the others but also AI a bit betterOriginally Posted by bababooey
Just something weird and ugly about BI compared to RTW.
I think I would have to agree with you there.Originally Posted by bababooey
I'm more of a RTW+Darthmod type of guy, for me a more interesting period

i like both time periods with regard to historical interest, allthough i prefer late antiquity and the early medieval a little bit. i also think that the migration of peoples clearly is the better scenario for a wargame and BI offers more options due to this, as mentioned above. the original textures are crappy, but good BI mods are the most entertaining and most challenging mods imo (apparently,AI is significantly better). i also don't like mods that prefer rome and greece (which is hardly possible in BI). this bores me to death and it appears 'fanboyish' and humorless somehow.

BI-XGM? what is that?
It's the BI version of XGM, that uses a few (but increasing) BI features into the RTW campaign...Originally Posted by Pietrak

I think that the hellenistic and roman eras are biased towards the two cultures mostly because they are the closest ones to ours (at least to the western model) and we have a much bigger abundance of historical sources for them (of course it will mean that many of them are biased towards self praising)...
I'm sure that if we had more data the history of multicultural empires like the persian one would be at least as interesting and worthy as the greco-roman one even for the average guy...
EDIT: XGM anyways rather than a "greeks and spartan pownz joo" mod was born with the intent to give the hellenistic civilization the same kind of detail vanilla had for romans, in the end it is becoming more of a mediterranean civilizations mod, although most barbarians doesn't have nearly the same improvements as other factions received i'm sure the future will bring more details to everyone...
eXtended Greek Mod (look at the sig)?
its really no big deal actually (also play spqr sometimes, so...) maybe i just have an irrational antipathy against ancient rome and greece. to me, it seems like some sort of narcissistic self-identification with the tautened militarism of sparta and rome and i hate the reduction of other factions to clay pigeons. and i was refering to mods that keep to the BI structure (the titel 'barbarian invasion' ... y'know) but i have no 'problem' with specialized mod (projects) like peninsula italica f. ex.
