    Default Rome Total War gold technical issues

    So I I decided to buy RTW gold at 75% discount, and I get the following:

    -Soldiers on minimum detail regardless of the detail I put on the graphics option;

    -A minimap that keeps blinking, even when I turn off all shadow related things on minimap

    -A much weaker performance than with RTW: Alexander campaign (none of the following problems happen, and the minimap doesn't constantly blink, unit detail can be put on max, etc.)

    my PC specs makes medieval 2, shogun 2, empire and napoleon run smoothly, so what could it be? also weird that alexander that uses same game engine gets no trouble at all graphically. is it a thing exclusive to the rome total war gold version?

    Any help highly apreciated please.

    What I find weird is that a game with same engine (alexander campaign) doesn't get this amount of graphical glitches.

    forgot to mention, the scroll on the mouse has almost no effect on the camera (RTS camera), and camera goes backwards faster than camera going front

    again help highly apreciated please

    How many cores does your computer have? I ask this because RTW only utilizes 1 core. Also for most of those I would try re-installing.

    Where did you get the game?

    My computer processor is an Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9550 @ 2.64 Ghz, so I'm guessing 4 cores. Does RTW Alexander use more than 1 core?

    Irishron bought it at steam.

    It only uses one core even with the cd.

    Have you tried verifying the game cache?

    You can set the affinity after starting the game but I doubt it would help.

    Hi there.
    What kind of GPU do you have ?
    How can you be sure the units are still on minumum ? A screenie please, to be sure. Keep in mind that RTW is an old game, so what you expect from it might not be what you get from it.

    Tried verifying game cache already, everything is fine it says.

    Mortenjessen my GPU is an ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2, if that answers your question(?)

    Yet I get the same blinking minimap (regardless of shadows on or off) and camera mouse wheel scrolling and the other problems I mentioned that I don't get with RW:alexander.

    Have you tried disablig the crossfire?

    Do you have the profiles installed?

    Crossfire = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMD_CrossFireX. Your card is actually two cards in one and there is a crossfire link someplace or should be.

    Profiles = http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloa...-profiles.aspx.

    Installed the "profiles" thing and the minimap actually stopped blinking and most of the graphical issues are actually gone! many thanks!

    However the mouse scroller still doesn't work properly, which is a pain. (works fine with alexander and the other total wars). any help with that?

    This is one I don't know. Have you tried updating the mouse drivers, if possible?
