1) Honour. A civitate should not be arrogant about his or her role as a privileged member at TWC, but would do well to remember that they are members of a higher class. Being a civitate is a privilege, and not a right. It is a class of distinction and honour, a symbol for members to look up to and respect. Thus civitates must show proper respect to the ethics and ideals that guide the class to which they belong.
This means that they should seek to conduct themselves in a matter befitting honour among members of all ranks and classes. Resorting to petty arguments, flaming and trolling, while against the rules anyways, are matters that should be in a civitate's past. They should also conduct their arguments in intellectual and well-thought forms, and be mature about how they post and in their dealings with all members.
This is not to say they should not enjoy themselves and post thesis' only, as they must also seek to promote a warm and welcoming community for all members. Civitates must not restrict themselves in an ivory tower of superiority and refuse to engage in light-hearted fun. But merely to say that Civitates must treat all other members with respect. They are, after all, an example of what TWC values in a member. They should not thus tarnish the image of the site.
2) Duty. A civitate should never shy away from their duties in helping to run TWC either. From simple voting, to active engagement and oversight in TWC matters, all civitates play a vital role in ensuring that TWC develops and runs in a way that all members may enjoy. Ensuring that Staff are aware of concerns and all possible decisions that are available to them is a vital role that the civitates class plays, and as such, all civitates should contribute what they can, where they can in the Curia and Prothalamos. Overseeing staff decisions, and suggesting ways to improve them as well, is very important, and should be a responsibility not taken lightly, as that power ultimately has the power to shape forum development.
To me, a civitate is a member who is an example to all. One who respects others and their thoughts, and contributes in a meaningful way to the development of TWC as a whole.Originally Posted by Garb
I have the honor and duty to propose the member gigagaia for ascendence to the ranks of Civitates. He has exhibited an exceptional ability in posting during this first period and he has been polite and well manered towards the other posters even under "duress",. I am fairly comfident he will be a valuable member both in the Common Community and the CURIA.
Thank you for your attention
Garb.
