well i actually have the problem that all my desktop icons are blanks, i don't know why, but a while ago it simply happened, and because of that i cant run IB from the desktop, so i would have to find a manual way to run it. got any idea?
OK, you could simply reinstall all three parts of SAI or use this, taken from SAI's mainpage installation instructions:
TO CREATE SHORTCUT TO DESKTOP MANUALLY:
This is for people who may be experiencing problems with SAI not loading the SAI shortcut.
1. If the shortcut fails to materialise on your desktop or the path is incorrect in the "target" window, please try reloading the game first.
If this fails to solve the problem please follow the following instructions.
For those who have the SAI Icon on their desktop:
- Right click on the SAI Icon
- Select Properties
- In the target box, copy and paste the following:
-mod:SAI -show_err after RomeTW-BI.exe. Make sure you leave a space between .exe and -mod:SAI -show_err.
2. If there is no Icon on your desktop then please follow these intructions:
- Go the folder where SAI has been installed.
- Right click on the BI.exe icon.
- Select "Send to Desktop"
- The BI.exe Icon should now be on your desktop.
- Right click on the Icon.
- Select Properties.
- In the target box, copy and paste the following:
-mod:SAI -show_err after RomeTW-BI.exe. Make sure you leave a space between .exe and -mod:SAI -show_err.
Hope this helps.
well, i think you don't quite understand. all my desktop icons are blanks!, they look like a blank sheet of paper, and i cant run any program only by clicking on the blanks, usually i need to go to the game folder and start games manually by clicking on the .exe file, but since SAI, at least in my experience; doesn't have an .exe file, i cant run it manually, so i cant run the game.
But do you have DVD of RTW-BI? because when you insert DVD the autorun function should automatically open a window on your desktop, from which you could run the game.
If you have steam version sorry I don't now.
doesn't work either. it says MSS32.DLL is missing ...but thanks for the help.
For me this could be a quite serious problem of your machine, if you can you could try to restore the system, obviousy if you have acces to this feature of Windows.
i do have acces to it, but if i would restore it, i would loose like 60% of my current data, because my last systemsave was in january or even earlier![]()
I wonder if you have a trojan in your PC? Have you run any scanning or malware apps?
Save what you can and restore the system! I never had your problem but, for my experience, the situation, if this is a problem of the system, can only get worse!
And the Antivirus? sometime Norton kill some exe/icons on my desktop for some strange reason! Then I must go into Norton and recover from the quarantine the items I want.
my Antivirus system is G-data. but there is not even enough space left on my hard-drive to make another saftey-copy of my system, and everything worked pretty well up to now, because most games have a manual launch .exe in their gamefile and i was always able to use that, but since IB doesn't have such a thing, it's impossible for me to start it, and that really sucks since i loved the original Barbarian Invasion and was really looking forward to play it with an enhaced campaign![]()
OK, it works now!!!!I just had to replace the IB data file with the original BI data file. now when i click on Barbarian Invasion.exe i automatically get the IB menu. But thanks for the help to all of you!!!!
